In my opinion I think these are the 23 players and lineup for game 1 (petey and Hughes are included)

                   Forwards

Miller           Pettersson     Boeser

Pearson       Horvat           Garland

Höglander    Dickinson      Podkolzin

Motte           Sutter            Highmore

       Defensemen             Goalies

Hughes         Hamonic       Demko

OEL              Poolman        Halak

Rathbone     Myers.            DiPitero

Scratches: Juolevi, Schenn, MacEwen

Players that will be called up from Abbotsford 1st: DiPietro, Hunt, Di Giuseppe, Lockwood

What is your season opening Canuck depth chart?

MacKewn

Ekman Larsson-Myers

Hughes-Hamonic

Juolevi-Poolman

I think Benning will push hard to give Juolevi a shot to stay in the lineup. Same with Highmore.

Hogs ?? EP BB

Pearson Horvat Garland

??Hogs Miller Podz

Motte Sutter Dickinson

As far as ?? goes front runner Gadjs.   Makes lives horrible for opposing D's and goalies.   Tempted to slot him in on the top line - plus wouldn't label any of these lines 1-2-3 ... any of them on any given night could be 1.   Three scoring lines and a shutdown line.  Dickinson isn't a scorer he's a shutdown player and his face offs aren't good enough.   Use him how he plays.   That fourth line is awesome.

D.   Well one of Rathbone or OJ will get a spot.  Rathbone is built like a brick $&!#house, think he could be this teams Bieksa... OJ plays a safe steady game.   Nice to have depth.

OEL  Hamonic

OJ     Myers

QHs   Poolman

Jesus look at that center "Depth". Which you need to win championships.

No team for rightful reasons will be intimidated by that.

Add our defenceman, who literally can't defend, it's going to be a frustrating year folks... Be prepared.

Demko is going to have to go Beast mode or the forwards need to score 4-6 goals to win. But Pettersson, Horvat, Dickinson and Sutter are the best 4 centres the Canucks have had since the 2012-2013 season when they had Hank, Kesler, Higgins and Malhotra.

This season can go one of two ways in my opinion

1) Canucks have a good year and get 96 points and make the playoffs

2) It's the 1997-1998 season all over again where the Canucks went 25 wins, 43 losses and 14 ties and were out of the playoffs before the halfway mark and one of Greener or JB will get thrown under the bus for the bad start.

D isn't looking good, but the Center Depth is the best it's been in a long time

I figure the line up will consist of the same usual suspects as most everyone else, in pretty much the same spots. I would play MacEwen over Highmore, and Juolevi over Rathbone.

Both Juolevi and Rathbone will require playing time to further develop. Sitting one of them in the press box will not help the team, so, Rathbone to Abbotsford because he can pass through waivers and get regular playing time (even if it is at the AHL level). Also, the Canucks are rather full in offensive type of d-men, particularly on the left side.

Juolevi gets to play at the NHL level and show that he belongs there. He is more of a defensive type of d-man, which I believe the team requires in the line up.

                                                                regards,  G.

Yeah, I think we're fine at center.  The thing is that I think we're OK on D too.  We don't have any superstars (Quinn is close but he has to get stronger and better at the defensive side of things - and OEL is also close, even though he may be past his prime I think he still has lots to contribute - we'll see).  What we do have suddenly is a lot of depth of NHL quality D.  Jim really went all out to restock the defence.  I'm hoping that the sum of the parts will be better than the star power.  I'm really excited to see how it all plays out on the ice.  I think we've got a really good chance at having a great season.  Pessimism before the season even starts is completely unnecessary.  Go Canucks Go!

2012-13 was a difficult year down the middle.

HIggins never played a game at centre.

Malhotra played only 9 that year.  It was the year Gillis pulled the plug on him because of his eye injury.

Kesler played only 17

Lapierre played all 48

Sedin also played all 48

Schroeder played 31

Ebbett played 28

and don't forget Derrik Roy who came in at the deadline to play 12

I like the idea of Miller as third line center! He also gets on PP1

But switch up Hog and Pearson for an elite shut down line that can score
