Flower will have to regain his form from last season. Shake off the Blackhawk dust.

This iteration of team Canada is not nearly as dominant on paper as previous teams.

US, Finland, Sweden all look lethal.

Mind you, Canada will be a faster team than ever before. The first line with McDavid and Mackinnon will be incredibly hard to skate with.

Hyman?? really?? You must have drank too much of that Leafs cool-aid. If you're thinking of a Kunitz comparison, just remember that Crosby played with Kunitz for SEVERAL years so that's why he got the shot in 2014. Kunitz is also a better player than Hyman and a proven winner / pivotal player on the teams he's played on. Hyman hasn't even stepped on the ice beside McDavid.

Kunitz was very good in ANA too...

The 3x 1st players named to the Olympic roster as confirmed by the IIHF:

CAN:  Crosby  McDavid  Pietrangelo

CZE:   Palat  Pastrnak  Voracek

DEN:   Bjorkstrand  Ehlers  True

FIN:     Aho  Barkov  Rantanen

GER:   Draisaitl  Grubauer  Seider

LAT:     Balcers   Girgensons  Rubins

ROC:   Kucherov Ovechkin  Vasilevskiy

SWE:   Hedman  Landeskog  Zibanejad

USA:   Matthews  Jones  Kane

SLO:   Cernak  Halak  Sekera

Germany.   That's their team right there lol.   Still pretty darn good players.   Still a four horse race really, with two dark horses  in FIN and CZE.

Im sorry but Horvat isn't making the team, Ryan O'Reilly probably be the preferred choice

Like usual, Canada's strength is down the middle, and several extra C's will end up on the wing.   Horvat isn't a bad choice at all, but yes he's on the cusp.

Sounds like there is a chance China isn't allowed to compete. The IIHF has been watching the KHL team much of their team is on.

IIHF may not be able to do that unilaterally without host city on board.

If you look at history of Olympic ice hockey, it isn't unusual for many countries getting blown out by Canada.  It's part of it. Look at the dream team in basketball, and how it ignited a world wide basketball attraction and lead to many countries to accelerate their program.

https://www.nbcolympics.com/news/hockey-101-olympic-history

"1924 Chamonix: As it did four years earlier, Canada displayed extraordinary superiority. Heading into the gold medal match, the Canadians had defeated Czechoslovakia, 30-0, Sweden, 22-0, Switzerland, 33-0 and Great Britain, 19-2."

So maybe Canada can break that 33-0 record. Look at how far Switzerland has come in hockey though. They beat team Canada in 2006, lost only in a shootout in 2010. Sweden and Czech are hockey powers now, both have won Olympic gold.

I have a bigger issue with the jerseys. Hope it looks better on ice and with the players # and name on it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had an under-the-table agreement with the IIHF and IOC.

It allows the fragile glass-hearted to save face from humiliation on the ice while feigning indignation about being snubbed from competition.

The last thing anyone wants is for such an imperious host to suffer a major blowout on their home ice on an international-scale spectacle.  The members of the teams that defeated them would probably be p.n.g. after the games, assuming they could even get out of the country without some bull$&!# trumped up "national security" charge (or enforced quarantine for "testing positive for the coronavirus").

Lol, exaggerate much? No one in China even cares about hockey, heck most don't even know it exist. Literally no one cares there if they get blown up in hockey.

Also China's soccer team has been embarrassed badly on home soil countless time and no player from opposing team was ever detained for embarrassing the national team. What make you think it will be different when it never happened at soccer where the people there is way more in tune with than this ice hockey thing.

Just have the coach repeatedly say to Fleury: "we're playing the Canucks, we're playing the Canucks", and he'll be fine.
