All of those guys we kept could have easily slipped through waivers and given us depth for the future.

It’s not like most of them earned a spot either. They all had average camps.

I would have given Gadj more runaway to prove he can play. He looked like a great 4th liner from what I saw.

Yep

Seems lke an unnecessary risk...

So Gadjovich sent down, not surprised.

So up front were looking at 10 guys left with 4 spots to fill, plus an extra.

Miller - Pettersson - Boeser

Pearson - Horvat - Hoglander

???? - Dickinson - Garland

???? - ???? - ????

I'm thinking for sure;

Podkolzin (3W)

Di Guiseppe (4W)

Dowling (4C)

Highmore / Lockwood (4W)

Petan (extra)

Last spot comes down to Lockwood or Highmore, assuming we keep 8D (I think we will)

I like Lockwood's game more but Highmore is better on the PK, & Lockwood may benefit from AHL time.

I think it comes down to the wire but they send Lockwood down for more playing time.

----- cut ----

Lockwood

MacEwen

Bailey

Dries

Focht

I think MacEwen has to be on the team. For the lineup above the best forward fighters on the team are Horvat, Miller, and Podzolkin, none should be dropping the gloves regularly.

They are giving Rathbone every chance to stick with the club, shows a lot how they feel about Juolevi at this point.

Yeah it sure does look like that.

I hope OJ makes it but then I was hoping Gadj makes it and he got cut so maybe I shouldn't hope.

Gadje might have benefited from the camps of the 'old days', where all the sluggers duked it out for spots on the team.

It is an aspect of his game that adds value; perhaps management didn't want to showcase him too much when they want to send him down anyway at some point.

WHen do we find out whether Gadj clears waivers?

Too bad we can't sedate the other GMs for a couple of days...

Why is Sheldon Dries still with the team?

I think this waiving of Gadg had to be timed when clubs were flush with their own skaters in camp and the waiver wire was full to bursting with talent: today was the single best day to try to sneak a guy down that you want to keep for your own system/club while knowing that he will not be a starter on said club.

If Gadg was a baddie they either would have cut him earlier or kept  him later to get valuable teaching tools in his noggin before losing him. I think it speaks to his being almost ready that he was waived today of all days.

Juolevi not even practicing with the full lineup. Rathbone is with Schenn and Hunt is with Burroughs.

Looks like Juolevi is on his way out.

On his way out would imply that he was in at some point.

Did we actually keep Petan for a bottom 6 role over Gadjovich? :picard:

This team is going to be so easy to play against. Our biggest tough guy is now MacEwan who is an average fighter and can only play 7 minutes a night…

Gadjovich barely played. I don't think they were seriously considering him unfortunately.

Still time to cut Petan, but his role would be as a fill-in offensive player.

I understand people are bummed about Gadjovich being sent down and put on waivers but he's only really a 4th liner at best.

Not necessarily the second coming of Bertuzzi by the looks of it tbh. Solid player but nothing really special.

Easy replaceable and expendable role if we're being completely honest.

And how does someone become more than just a 4th liner at best?

By paying their dues, improving their abilities/skill set, and taking on a leadership role while protecting teammates, all at 22 years old.

Some are upset about it because no one has seen his realized potential yet. He’s earned at least a shot in most people’s eyes. Sure he could be end up in the same category as a ZacMac where ppl expect more than what is there, and end up letting themselves down, but JG’s potential (for Nux fans) remains untapped or tested as of yet.
And don’t forget, it’s the fans who always want to be the true judge of a player, haha
