Sure he takes guys with very high ceilings with his highest picks and hopes they turn into elite scorers in our top six. But he seems to draft guys for roles with later picks. Like Lockwood. He’s clearly a bottom six guy, and has the character to play that role. Take fancy skill guys in the later rounds, and if they can’t make it in a skill role it’s likely they don’t make it at all. 2

Having said that, his injuries did prevent him from making progress in his career. At this point, I'm just hoping that he becomes a serviceable bottom pairing defender. Oh yea I wanted Tkachuk so badly but....I also would have drafted Glass so whatever go Canucks!

Yeah I agree. Can't hit a homerun on every at bat. I still don't want Tkachuk but I thought just doing the simple thing and picking Chychrun, who was highly touted, would have been a good decision. Lesson is to not put all your eggs on one tournament (in this case WJHC).

Popular Post Dixon Ward
I was pretty excited about this season. Mostly because all of the negativity seemed cleared up, with Virtanen, Loui, Beagle, Roussel, Schmidt gone and some new faces who were pumped. I have to admit that the EP/QH saga, Hamonic saga, and Sutter/Motte out are starting to put a damper on that enthusiasm. I know the deal for 2 young superstars is complex, but there are only so many options, and it's enough already! Hamonic, there is no excuse for this. While I understand that the Indigenous community hasn't been treated well by our health care system in the past, we prioritized indigenous people with this vaccine as their communities were suffering more per capita. Indigenous leaders asked for it and the Canadian Government gave it to them. This is a very lame excuse for signing a contract to make millions and then not showing up because of your refusal to take a community-saving vaccine. Hamonic missed training camp last year and had a bad start and his team was decimated by this virus, it's enough already! Sutter and Motte, hopefully they can get going soon or we can use the cap to get moving. Edited September 27, 2021 by Dixon Ward 1 2
DrJockitch
Here are my hopes for tomorrow. We can go through a game thread without bickering about COVID. We don’t make grand assumptions about players after one exhibition game with only 3 days of practice and no systems work. That and would be nice for unsigned players to sign and for signed players to show up. Think I will be 0 for 3.

It was speculated by a fan that he was not, and as usual, everyone latches onto it as fact. Benning has said that all Canucks are fully vaccinated. It is more likely, there are problems with his immunocompromised daughter and that he is prioritizing her, as he should! 2 1

Then seemed to get vague about it. My comments only stand if it is vaccine related. If it is any other health issue, including his family, then he should take the time he needs. I am just losing my patience with anti-vaxxers.

I'm going by what Benning said at the press conference when camp opened, he said all Canucks were fully vaccinated and that Hamonic had a personal matter and would be in camp the next day. Now...I know for a fact, that in some immunocompromised circumstances, the vaccine is completely ineffective. It's possible that he winds up sitting out the season so that he's not putting his daughter at risk. I have a family member who is immunocompromised, has had both Pfizer vaccines but has none of the antibodies that are supposed to be generated by the vaccine. The treatment for the auto immune issue, completely wiped them out, like she never had them. 1

Was he a Covid positive guy, when so many of our players got sick? Benning said, our club "will be 100% vaccinated by season's start".

Alflives
Just now, Dixon Ward said: "Will be" is the key part of that. And that "will be" is very key. JB also said in that comment that Travis would be in camp the next day. There is a potential mess here. Who plays our RSD if Hamonic isn't ready to go to start the year?

If Hamonic can't go, the bad news is, we're a little weak down the right side, although it does open the door for guys to show that they are ready. The good news is, it gives us another 3 million in cap space, in a market where there are a LOT of teams, pushed up against the cap.
