No he did get a bridge.  He signed a 3 year, 6.75 mil/year deal.  His next big deal kicks in next season.

The whole reason that @204CanucksFan brought up Point was because he was comparing Brayden from two years ago to Elias today.  I get it, it's not a bad comparison but it should be noted that it took Brayden being pretty much in the top 4 forwards in the league with Kucherov, MacDavid, and Draisaitl to earn a 9.5 million contract.

There's just no way that Elias deserves to be getting anything over 8 million, unless it's a 6-8 year deal.  That's using Brayden Point as a comparable.

I'm sorry, but for me I want to see our two stars coming under 16 million and over at least 9 years combined.  If we spend more or get less years from them then I'll be shifting myself into not caring for these two as much.  We're never going to win with this core if they are all of the same attitude that they want to squeeze the team for as much money as possible.

On another note, the most ludicrous idea that I've heard here was someone mentioning that Canucks should trade a player out to make more cap space.  That is the most ludicrous idea I've ever heard, and it would pretty much make sure that the rest of the team despises the two stars that forced some other well-liked teammate out of the team so that they can squeeze out a few more dollars.

Hard not to agree with this.   Personally feel there is enough to do 16 years between the two guys.

Okay, that makes sense. I am wrong.

Hughes 3x 6mil.. needs to prove his worth. or 6/8 years at 7.5m ( he is not darnel nurse or dougie H ) not even worth 8 million yet.

Peterson should be 8x8 .. if bridge 3x7mil.

Done deal fair for both sides

I’d like to see both guys get 3 year bridge deals at 7 per.

Glad to hear Petey is back in town . Both sides are doing the things that they do . they should get signed soon . But I would  love to know what the holdups are . Have to think the total amount of dollars isn't an issue as Benning went and signed everyone else So ..... Last year of deals . Bonuses or length of contracts , does the agent or Benning want the same term for both or is separating a stumbling block  . Canucks seem to need Petey Signed first so is that  something the agent using to sweeten things up .

Sorry not sure how to word all this just the thoughts in my noggin

Nux have over 16 M available.  Don't understand the hold up.

They could give QH 8x8 and Petey 3x8 and be done. Slight overpayment but not dramatically over.

I think they should lock up QH long term and let the situation with his brothers play out over time.  Who knows in 8 years what NJ looks like etc etc.

Petey you gotta do a bridge and see how he looks.  In 3 years you give him 10 if he's been a top producer and remained healthy.

Frustrating process with no info and no movement.

I've got to chime in after reading this back and fourth. First off this is classic extreme homerism on WaiLai's part. Petterson is quite good at defence for a flashy type of player. His speed, hustle, and commitment, to the back check are exceptional. However his understanding of what to do when he gets there is fairly lacking and and he ends up laying on the ground half of the time. You also have to take into account his dangerous passing and laissez faire attitude in the offensive zone which became more apparent last year. Add to that Petterson doesn't kill penalties and needs work on face-offs. Then there are the playoffs. Also articles such as the following are not written about #40. I love Petey but c'mon man.

extremem homerism? is EP better than Point right now in the career no? is BP heads and shoulder above EP defensively also no. should EP get a contract like BP right now? prolly no. can BP replicate his success playing on a team that finishes in the bottom 10 every year? prolly no. BP is a big contributor in winning the stanley cup the last 2 season but you guys talk like kucherov hedman vasilevsky stamko all did nothing.. those players easily could be the top players on a lot of different teams. when was the last team to have a norris vezina hart art ross trophy past conn smyth winner all in their prime on the same team at the same time? EP doesn't play PK doesn't mean he can't play PK. it's just there are other choices available for the PK, and his faceoff needs work. his positioning is amazing defensively clogging up shooting lanes.. he leads the team in terms of block shot by forwards in the last few years. then again why increase his workload by playing him more on defensive side of the puck and end up lowering his offensive time? who else on this team are you going to put the offensive zone time for the last couple of season? loui? virtanen?

I have to admit I’ve seriously considered lately if the Canucks had to ever choose which of these two players they couldn’t live without who would it be , and I had an argument with myself, top line centre or top D man , I would eventually side with Hughes but the Truth is the Canucks really need two more than anyone else in the line up with all due respect.

Seems like it. I can’t find anything on the internet to corroborate this.

I don’t even follow these guys. Just popped up in my search side of IG

I think Quinn's bro was making a tongue in cheek joke, and the twitter guy wants to stir the pot.

Here's what I'm hoping for *fingers crossed*

Pettersson 3 x $6,940,000

Hughes 6  x $6,943,000

Fair money but still team friendly to help build a winner with nods to their (and their team mates) numbers.

No way is Quinn worth $3,000 more than Petey!!!
