i mean to be fair to QH when he first came to vancouver, he was doing well with Luke Schenn.. so we got rid of him.. next year he's doing well with Tanev.. we can't afford him.. then last year we just rotate defenseman to play with him and to be fair he wasn't great but none of the rotating defenseman we stick with him compliments his style of play anyways. you guys keep going on oh so and so is better than him +/- etc etc etc so QH must be terrible on defense and he's the problem.. well maybe Edler works with Schmidt or myer or something that's why they work better? but none of those compliments QH's style of hockey so none really works with him and they just make QH look worse than he really is. QH worked well in previous season with a stay at home defense first Dman.. none of the Dman we have on the roster even remotely close to fitting that description hence he struggled with most if not all of his partner. the closest we have prolly this year is poolman.

I mean, I agree, but Schenn is kinda remotely close to the same as Schenn

What if TBay had rights to these 2 youngins? How quickly & cheap would they have signed? We all know the answer to that.

F*** this crooked league. Don't waste time worrying over such matters.

Today went for a scenic 4 hr road cycling excursion, in the green tea field mtns/terraces of beautiful Kyoto. Place called Wazuka. My Gawd it's beautiful. So many young folks burning time on-line, wondering when their fav, millionaire stars will hit ANOTHER LOTTO. Get out there & enjoy the weather/season!

We get robbed of time, planning, hoping & sweating over these silly posturings(or brother rants) of the rich, privileged, and/or famous. It's a form of addiction that requires a limit.

Read some about EPs Contract negotiations in Swedish media, looks like Player Side is looking for 4-6 Years and the Canucks is looking for 3, not event remotely Close to an agreement according to Barry

Canucks are stupid not to go for 6 if the dollar value is fair, going more than 3 on Hughes would also be a mistake.  Signing them both to 3 years means you have to have cap for raises and flat cap with only Myers (who will need to be replaced) is not too wise either but I prefer that to signing Hughes long term and Petey short term

I’d offer Petey

6,7,8,9,9,9,10,10 but 1,2, 4 and 5 y not an option guys already demonstrated that his floor is really good

I’d offer Hughes 4.5,5.5,7.5 any term is an option (this guys floor is still the KHL if he cannot actually play defence)

The idea of putting 8 M of cap on Hughes in the short term is as bad or worse as 7.2 of OEL cap in 3-4 years.  It will slam shut any hint of a window we have right now and force decent players/assets out due to the ensuing cap crunch.  The team is not much better on paper, if at all, than what was in the Bubble which was clearly a tier down from Vegas so more changes are required to improve.  Hand cuffing the team due to cap issues means trading 1st rounders to try improving while moving cap out and all that does is shut the window that will be there in 3-5 years when the core are all in their primes

Lol. Blaming the league for Benning not being able to get a deal locked in yet.  Now I’ve seen everything. If Tampa got them locked up quickly it would be because they’re a 2 time cup winning team in a state with advantageous tax laws and gorgeous weather. But sure. It’s the leagues fault a team that’s finished near the bottom for several years can’t get their stats (that they got by finishing near the bottom) can’t get a quick , cheap deal done

JP Barry is a slimeball.  This is the same guy that went on air last season and just laughed when asked about Loui's contract and how he has performed.

I can't help but tend to believe this delay is thanks to the representation. The amount of remaining cap is finite, and since Petey and Quinn have the same agent, it's really just finding how the two split that remaining pie. This should be relatively easy in the scope of negotiations.

I would like to believe it's not the players stomping their feet and demanding more money than this team can afford. I'd like to think they'd have a classier attitude towards their first full contract, knowing they will get paid even more handsomely just a few years later. And I'd like to think  given recent comments about a desire to win, that they'd be willing to help the team build a contender by being reasonable and that they want to get on the ice with their teammates asap.

Why hold what his brother said against him? If that cane from his agent it would be a different story

How do you not, Quinn should be in damage control mode right now because he now has to convince the team and his teammates that Jack isn’t his mouth piece.

That’s not for Quinn to do.  I guarantee he’s under orders from his agent to not say anything.  He’s not responsible for what his brother says in an interview.

16M in cap space should be enough to get this done but sounds like the agent wants to walk them to UFA in minimum time, this is where JB does need to dig in his heels which is unfortunate.

With all the changes and the nightmare of last year, they really need to be in camp, they need the reps with the team.

Very disappointing but the agent isn't dumb, he looks at JBs offseason and knows he is battling to keep his job and is holding his feet to the fire.

Are people really upset because his brother stated the obvious .hahahaha.
to funny the easily offended shockingly easily offended by being told one of the worst team last year was one of the worst teams.
kid was asked a question he answered it honestly. I guess he wasn’t  told Vancouver fans don’t like the truth  and have skin as thin as a Chinese food take out bag after the chicken balls have been in it.

so now we need to get rid of a franchise dman because his brother said one of the worst teams was one of the worst teams.
