Loui would show integrity and respect for his own time by walking away from the last year.

I’m not surprised that he hasn’t done it earlier but at this point with 33 out of 36 million in the bank, I would take a year off instead of toiling away in the AHL.

And maybe he will, who knows?

The point is he has a contract that Benning agreed to. Attacking his integrity for wanting the team to honor a guaranteed contract they signed is not really fair.

Very in depth argument against the facts I presented.

People just cant accept the fact that guaranteed contracts are just that, guaranteed. I personally think its a major cause of problems with the NHL but that doesnt change that it is what all sides agreed to in the CBA.

Until players who overachieve can terminate their contract to demand more money, expecting players who underachieve to terminate to lose out on money isnt really reasonable.

Teams have other remedies to use like burying a player like Eriksson. Not allowing the full cap hit to be wiped out by putting them in the AHL was supposed to encourage GM's not to be reactive idiots on Jul 1. It clearly hasnt had the intended effect.

At Benning again i see! Who's fault is it really?! Look at the contracts given out that year and look at his previous year(s)...maybe look at the player who didn't live up to his contract (in a large way)!! But, you do you and keep attacking benning! And keeping ignoring me because you know you're wrong and a coward spewing garbage!!

How am I &^@#ing attacking Benning with that comment? Its just fact. Benning agreed to what has turned out to be a terrible contract. Its still a guaranteed contract though.

I have clearly said Eriksson has not lived up to his contract and that its fair game to criticize him for that. But there is nothing in the contract that says he is obligated to terminate it to make Benning's life easier. Dont want the risk as a GM, dont sign horrible contracts.

Please explain how stating a fact, with absolutely no vitriol whatsoever, is "attacking" Benning or being a hater.

Honestly, what a bunch of &^@#ing whiny bitches.

You should read up on why the nhlpa wanted guaranteed contracts. And why they are absolutely the worst thing in pro sports.

Thats why the nhlpa wanted guaranteed contracts though. And they got them. So suggesting a player owes the team to opt out of his contract is not realistic.

If Eriksson had become a consistent 100 point player would you be saying the team should let him opt out of his contract so that he could earn 7 or 8 million instead? Of course not.

The risk with guaranteed contracts cuts both ways.

In the real world Benning would have been fired too for terrible financial management.

I’m not talking about guaranteed contracts.

Im talking about a player having the pride to call it quits when they clearly can’t play at a certain level the team expects of them.

From all accounts the team has given him every opportunity and treated him very respectfully. All they need is for him to walk away on his last season once his bonus is paid. I think that’s pretty fair.

Whatever people think of Eriksson, he can still play at the NHL level, just not at the level his contract should demand.

In reality, Eriksson has not been treated all that well the last few years. Deserved? For sure I would say so. But I dont think any player would be happy about how he has been treated during his time in Vancouver. He has never really been given all that much opportunity. And that is for sure on him not earning it as well.

Just asking how stating Benning signed a guaranteed contract is somehow hating on him.

If my comments irritate you this much, you might want to take your own advice.

You definitely needed a Huggy Bear.

There will be negative fans, but their comments (which are mostly silly) only serve as contrast to the good posts, and just how well Benning is actually building a winning young team for us.  Look at how good our young core guys did in the bubble playoffs!  Our best players were key young guys.  Petey was a ppg.  Quinn set the all time rookie record for playoff scoring by a D man.  Bo was amazing.  And Demko was "Bubble Demko".  Then Benning added Hogs last season, who is clearly a really good player.  And Pods is coming, who is another obviously super player.  Bone looked great too.  So the negative Nelly's serve to highlight just how good our team's future actually is.  We are going to have a fantastic 5 to 7 years.  Maybe even a parade or two in there.  :towel:

All NHL contracts are guaranteed, right?  It's moot.  (or moo to some)

That was my point. Its not a hate thing, its just a fact.

Saying any player owes it to management to terminate a contract early just doesnt line up with the facts of contracts in the NHL. And it has nothing to do with a players integrity.

There are all kinds of factors involved. Do you think the NHLPA and agents want to start setting the precedent that their players will voluntarily assume all the risk if a contract is a bad one? Not in a million years. They would not have fought so hard for guaranteed contracts in the first place.

Thank you!! For sure...just sooo tired of this stuff, it's everywhere! Not just on here, but blanketing society! We can ignore it for sure, but there's no change without people standing up to it.

I've gone though some really bad personal stuff lately and i just want to enjoy some other things that are important to me, but i have to hear these people everywhere...it sucks!

As far as the team, i'm looking forward to next year and beyond! Thanks again!!

There are very few actual comparables for Hughes.

Most are a bit lower on the points end but much more effective on the defensive end of the ice.

He is very one dimensional and his offensive chances often come at the expense of his defensive play. He has along way to go to be a true #1 D. Lots of rosk signing him to big money and term right now imo.

Tell me 31 d men better than Hughes

One can debate where he is as a #1 d man but one can't debate that he isn't a #1

He plays #1 mins is used like a  #1 d man offense starts and PP and produces like a #1 pass like a #1 sets players up like a #1 has a first pass like a #1 moves the puck from zones like a #1 . That doesn't scream 1 dimension it means he has 1 part of his game he needs to improve is it a big part yes but still 1 part and most offense #1s don't Excell at the defensive game any ways. Letang is still a #1 for Pittsburgh but isn't all that great at defense.

Most #1 d men aren't asked to play PK  some do but most don't.

1 dimension would be if he was a PP specialist but didn't produce 5 on 5 or did anything else and had a bad defensive game.

You sir don't know what 1 dimensional means.

Or you think that there is only 2 parts of being a defense man.

I am sorry to hear you have had some personal issues. My intent is not to make your life worse although I am not sure how stating a fact does that.

Having said that, you do have the ability yourself to block anyone whose posts you dont want to see so that your enjoyment of cdc is not impacted. Its not anyone else's responsibility to not post their opinions because soneone else doesn't like them.

I encourage you to block me. Its the best solution for you.

I hope things improve for you in your personal life and your cdc life.

I certainly don't know you personally, as I'd find your attitude extremely grating to be around, to say the least. You seemingly have little to no capability to have a civil discussion without resorting to aggression and anger. I'll choose what I do with my comments, and there really isn't much you can do about it.

Your fly off the handle approach to posting responses opens you up to being called out, as you pack so many assumptions into your critique of other posters comments.
