Coconuts
We could even just grab someone off waivers instead if we know he'll be sitting out for the season, wouldn't cost us a thing.

He wants to protect his daughter from infection so moving/playing in a country that cannot get its act together over the pandemic is his preference?!?! I was just going by the rumors that are out there (although I will have to admit that there are MANY). Some rumors suggest that Hamonic wants to play in the States so that he wouldn’t have to cross the border as much as an unvaccinated player. Other rumors suggest that this has nothing to do with Covid and that Hamonic is dealing with a personal issue (which may or may not be related to his daughter). Either way, I’m not trying to present what I’m saying as gospel. I, like many on here, am just suggesting things based off rumors. If Hamonic decides to opt out for this season, my guess is that the Canucks will trade for Buffalo’s Mark Pysyk, with Olli Juolevi possibly going the other way. Maybe even a guy like Juulsen from Florida who's on waivers today Don't get me wrong, I'm not tryna rag on you, I just don't like moving picks Best way to keep our competitive window open and our salary structure manageable is continually integrating our own drafted talent

He appeared to have a lot of potential before suffering a serious injury a few years back. Maybe he finds his footing in a local setting? (he's from Abbotsford). It's def possible, some players are weird like that I'd imagine the Canucks must have a decent idea of what Hamonic will do at this point, the D core is too important to leave hanging

Odjick the Warrior
Hamonic has a modified NTC and not to mention no team will want him when nobody is being told anything other then a family problem, I can’t see any team wanting him if no info is released to other teams on what is really going on.

Maybe Canucks send conditional pick for Lauzon instead of having Seattle waive him and get nothing. Also it makes Canucks the team to get him first instead of losing him on waivers. Good deal for us, although the Benning haters would moan about the pick.
Patel Bure
Cap wise, Hamonic + Motte + 2nd would work? (I realize that Anaheim would likely want more than a 2nd)

Despite all of our supposed ‘bled picks,’ we’ve still technically managed to bring in a full time roster player almost each and every year during Benning’s tenure. 2014: Demko 2015: Boeser 2017: Pettersson and Rathbone 2018: Hughes 2019: Podkolzin and Hoglander 2021: Klimovich (to be determined but looks promising). That’s 7 main roster players in 7 years, three of which were non 1sts. Even guys like Gaudette, Virtanen, and Tryamkin that ultimately didn’t pan out for us, all got in Atleast a full season at minimum. In short? The Benning haters can whine about our bled picks all they want, but we’ve averaged one player sticking long term per year during Benning’s tenure. It’s not how the quantity of picks......it’s about the quality, and how many picks actually convert into roster players. But looking at his numbers, he has really fallen off a lot both in offensive production and +/- since 2017/18..... If he can be acquired for a lower tier prospect, I'm in!! Good post. Manson is not the player most of us remember. And I don't think ANA let him go for a lower tier prospect. So I would caution against trading for him. Yeah I really think Lauzon should be the main target. He can play top 4 minutes, is good defensively, kills penalties and costs only $850k. Once they sign Cholowski, Seattle will have 9 NHL calibre Dmen and none of them will be waiver exempt. Even if they keep 8 Dmen on their roster, they will likely lose at least one player to another team via waivers. If VAN managed to get Juolevi through waivers then I think Seattle might go for a Lauzon for Juolevi deal. This way they keep Juolevi on their AHL squad as depth, and don't lose a player for nothing.
Patel Bure
Josh Manson as a Canuck: If Hamonic doesn’t report to Abbotsford , then Josh Manson, cap wise, might be the Canucks’ best bet for this coming season. Hamonic 3 million off the books if he doesn’t report + moving Motte for a pick (1.225 million). Canucks then surrender a high pick and a prospect for Josh Manson’s 4.1 million dollar contract for this year. What say you?

In my opinion, all/most Benning haters tend to dislike Benning because they cannot see beyond the numbers don't truly understand what a rebuild entails struggle to understand what truly makes a cohesive team both on and off the ice.
