Man, this standard for calling a cross check now is ridiculous. Watching Jets Flames. Brutal. Our PK better wake up.

Will be awesome to see us get retaliatory cross checking penalties all season long.

Hopefully our guys learn and simply slash the other guys ankles. Less likely to get called.

The Capitals announce Alexander Ovechkin (lower-body) will not return to tonight’s game.

That may have just been the mother-of-all charlie-horses. Didn't seem like anything that could cause a serious injury.

5 cross checking penalties in the Flames/Jets game tonight…

The NHL is it’s own worst enemy I swear. They keep trying to change the rule book and it just makes things worse.

No real hockey fan wants to see 15 penalties called a game. Just a dumb gimmick to attract new fanbases that don’t understand the game.

Not changing the rule book but applying it.  The Kucherov broken rib by Pelech in the playoffs with no call on the cross-check was apparently the trigger per Friedman.

It sucks now, but it’s for the best long-term. This is how they reduced obstruction, and slashes to the hands, both which have made hockey much better to watch. The players just need time to curb learned behaviour.

That’s nice in theory.

Unfortunately this call will ruin the game like it has “applying” the hooking and slashing rules.

And everyone already knows it won’t be applied consistently. Just when certain teams need a powerplay.
