I expect it’ll be Petey, assuming he stays healthy and plays the full season. It just might not be obvious, until you dig into his analytics, which I expect to put him head and shoulders above any other Canuck (with Hughes second and returning to his rookie season performance levels).

I’m expecting a return to his sophomore season form, and that version of Pettersson is elite.

Top-10 player in the league IMO (and the stats back this up), when you consider all the value he brings to the ice.

I’m also expecting big years from Horvat and Boeser, Demko to play like a top-10 starter, and a bounce back year from OEL.

But Petey should be our superstar MVP.

OEL

He will return to form as a 40+ pt D. Maybe 50pt if things go right. Will help improve the PP% and bolster the D core.  And allow QH to play his game and not try to force things (like last year).

OEL will help our 2nd PP unit as well as the option for us to switch it up. Our PP will be lethal because even if we load up the 1st PP with Pettersson, Miller, Boeser, Hughes and Chiasson, we would still have OEL, Garland, Horvat, Hoglander, Pearson on 2nd unit.

I put Chiasson on 1st unit because he was put in 1st unit for Oilers PP. He is very effective in screening the goalie and allowed us the score one of the PP goalies with Smith being screened. Canucks PP could become tops in NHL with those 2 units. Plus lots of options to switch it up too.

Honestly if OEL turns back the clock and plays like that elite form he had in 2016, Canucks will be very dangerous. Especially Hughes getting back to his rookie form with Poolman. Add a Hamonic to that 3rd pairing and Canucks will look really solid.

Yes the debates are back!!  Who you got?  Who is going to be the MVP?

Have fun and enjoy...  :)

I’m going to go against the grain a little and vote for OEL.  OEL, in a new environment and having something to prove, will return to the all-star form that he displayed 4-5 years ago.  For how many years he keeps this up I do not know, but OEL will be one of the best defensemen in the league this year.

Tons of viable options. I'd say any of Pettersson, Boeser, Horvat, and Demko are the best ones, but I could see a case for Hughes as well. Really surprised that OEL has so many votes. Glad people are liking him though.

He's never really fallen off being a 40+ point guy. It was his defense that fell off in the past couple of years. Regaining that would be huge for him and the Canucks.

OEL  would have to revert to his Norris vote days to beat out some of our guys -  and i agree that as of right now,  like Markstrom before him - Demko is our most important player.    OEL was compared to Lidstrom early in his career and can see some similarities, smooth skater, seemed to be in the right place all the time, scored goals and got his points on a bad team.   You just never know, but I  went with EP.    This will be his first crack at joining a tiny group of forwards (so far) with a double digit paycheque in three years, and think he's going to make the most of it.   Demko, Miller, BB,  maybe even Horvat and QHs also are all good choices too.

Bo is our most valuable player.  No one plays in more key situations.

I considered Horvat too.   Think Green is going to have a tough time breaking up Pearson and Hogs - unless the blender ends up a requirement because our forward group isn't cutting it.    With that in mind Hogs would need to have more then a steady upward trend .... tough to see that occurring but you never know.    One thing is for sure, whatever occurs this season is going to be done more by committee then it has... well i'm hard pressed to find a better group of forwards since the early 90's.   To me this one looks equal to at least, possibly  better then the peak Sedin era, and miles ahead of the WCE one.    Right now NHL.com, THN and other media sources recognize that we could have the deepest forward group in the league, not just our division or conference but the league.   That said they are pretty high on Podz ... feel he could be a Calder winner, he'd probably have to be close for this to be true.

Adams, Ronning, Linden, Bure, Courtnall, Gelinas, Craven, Momesso...plus plus

Miller, EP, BB, Pearson, Horvat, Hogs, Garland, Podz, Dickinson ... plus plus
