I think "better" is being used very loosely here.

Fair enough.

I guess perspective is what we need here, these guys were kept for a second look...."Generally"!

I would imagine, we will see even better players, closer to the season...........

Keeping in mind, we are talking 4th liners here.

I won't be shocked to see Logan Brown get claimed by somebody but I doubt it's the Canucks. The Canucks need a R shot Centre right now. If Brown was a right shot Centre, I'd say the Canucks would at least be looking into it.

If Brown does clear, this should give the Canucks confidence that they can get Juolevi through waivers. I know they play different positions but draft pedigree does stop mattering at a certain point and Brown & Juolevi were both drafted in 2016.

OJ is not getting waived.  He’s played well enough for a 3rd pairing.

He literally hasn't played in the last three games (including tonight). And he hasn't practiced with the team in five days. He's M.I.A. If the Canucks can't find a way to trade him, he's getting waived. Rathbone took the 3rd pairing LD spot and Brad Hunt won the extra LD spot. He didn't play well enough.

Why?

Couldn't break OTT roster and now STL.

Same could be said for Gadj. He’s intriguing. Not saying we should do it but he’s a big Center and sometimes these players do take a little longer. There’s a reason STL traded for him in the first place

I'm wondering if OJ could be loaned to Euro, Finnish team? not sure how that all works, but might avoid Waivers and allow him time to develop more?

Gambrell might be worth taking a flyer on!

Precisely what I was thinking. Was a constant PK option in San Jose, takes draws (albeit not great) but very responsible defensively. I wonder if he could help lessen the blow of not having Brandon Sutter for the foreseeable future.

Maybe we end up getting something back for Gadj after all

Still has to go through waivers to be loaned abroad.

Every player under contract is on the NHL roster in the off-season.  Before the start of the season the team has to assign their excess players to the different teams whether juniors, AHL, Europe.  If a player is waiver eligible he has to go through waivers to be removed from the main roster regardless of where they send him.
