Ok so NHL.com has put out its prediction for this season, https://www.nhl.com/news/stanley-cup-picks-for-2021-22/c-326685518, Canucks are not in the picture for the playoffs according to them, and IMHO that is about right, the Nucks might push for a wild card spot if all the key people stay healthy and produce but yeah it will be another miss this year but hopefully won't be a disaster like last year. But they are putting the Flames ahead of the Oilers in the division race with Vegas on top. interesting...thoughts, opinions?

  1. Vegas - probably still good enough to win the division
  2. Vancouver, unless Green causes further damage to the roster
  3. LA - brought in some good supporting pieces and has a lot of young talent that's ready
  4. Seattle - good defence, offense will struggle but they should be able to be competitive
  5. Edmonton - great 1st line, but having an AHL blueline after Nurse and Keith, along with an ECHLer backing up a geriatric Smith is going to end badly
  6. Cahlgary - brought in a lot of plugs, but still hasn't addressed the lack of men in their top 6.  Also lost their captain and has little real leadership.
  7. Anaheim - Rebuilding, better days ahead but not now.
  8. San Jose - lottery contender.

Vegas, Oilers, Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle, LA, SJ, Anaheim.  Think we'll be on the outside looking in after challenging to the end for a wildcard spot.  We'll look back on this season and realize we need net front presence, and a better defense, but we'll be happy with progression and point totals from some of our key players, as well as the development of Podkolzin.   Savvy trade deadline deals will yield future rewards for the club, as we look to advance into the playoffs and beyond for next season.

1.  Vegas

2.  Vancouver

3.  Seattle

4.  Edmonton

5.  CGY

6.  LA

7.  ANA

8.  San Jose

I put Canucks at the second place, assuming the injuries would not damage too much.

I believe BN did the right jobs to remove most of the dead weights before the new season, and add some useful new players.
