Dazzle
Why couldn't they just sign him to a 2 way deal? Lmfao.

I guess they're not worried about the couple hundredgrand of payroll savings? It's a pretty minor difference

A 2 way deal doesn't make him waiver ineligible... only in the ea sports universe. 1 1

Must have filed the contract just before they waived him. Lamoriello mostly files his contracts at the end of the off-season as he doesn't want other teams to know their available cap space, but the deals are typically agreed long before. Parise and Chara's contract were only just filed but both at camp and signed long before that - Parise pretty much as soon as he became UFA after his buyout. It's atypical because if the contract is not filed, there's no compensation in case of an injury. Players must have some kind of guarantee that he'll honour the contract regardless of what happens.
