Thats no excuse for a professional player making that much.  Youll never see elite players using that excuse yet we love making it for all our guys.

It's not a so much as an excuse but something that could happen. Remember Nylanders slow start that one season

Playing defense is a completely different beast than forward.

Hughes is small framed.  He doesnt have the physical makeup to defend at this level.

Agreed.   The point is Quin Hughes receives a lot of attention on purpose - like Petterson, from other teams - especially forechecker' in Hughes game, defenders in EPs ... both these guys should be better in this regard...they can't get worse can they?

if he stays healthy?  I thnk 65-70 points

I was really expecting a bit of a "meh" year from Petey and figured that 65-70 was going to be a "worst case scenario".  Right now it's looking like 40-45.........that's Virtanen territory.

Petey has been terrible this year.

Even those posters in this thread that were trying to be realistic had their "realistic" point total expectations for Petey way way too high.

No one would have seen his play regress to such a low level.

Maybe new Jim considers trading Petey??!! Who knows.

Probably not. We've had Hughes, Boeser, Horvat have awful one-off years.

Back to back years like this than consider moving but you're probably looking at a PLD/Laine type deal.

There's no rush right now. Rutherford sounds like he eyes building a long-term contender over any sort of short-term gain.

50 to 55 pts.

He's not improved much since the start of the year but the team has so he will pick up the pace a little bit. Still winds up with a poor result.

He needs to train in the off-season to put on muscle and get stronger and faster. NO more renting out the local rink with his brother in Sweden. Time to get serious about his own development to compete with the physicality of the NHL. The league has figured him out. He now needs to adapt.

Sedins need to be instrumental in helping him train for success.

you guys are focusing way too much on pure point total. at the beginning of the season he looked horrible and he's not even getting any chances nor setting people up. since Bruce have came on he's still not putting up the points we are used to and still getting knocked over but he's been getting his chances just not quite the finish compared to when green was still here he was getting no chance. he setup plenty of great A chances for Garland the other night if he finish any one of those then it's like oh he's playing decent?

Hey, let's start off the NHL regular season with a Petey debate.  Cause you know he's my favourite player right?  :)

What say you?  Will Petey have a record breaking year?  Have fun and enjoy...  :)

So this is where Petey's jinx started? well Fack! stop that! Ok ok on the serious side, opposing clubs are putting some pretty good defensive players out to face him.. what else are they going to do right? Well hopefully his confidence comes back to his old Alien ways and from figuring out he needs that extra step to get there as this is the best league in the world. Go Petey! You got this!

Pettersson's only talent is putting up points. He is weak and falls down constantly. Putting up points is the only thing he can do and MUST do to be successful.

this site is die hard Ep40, the guy can suck and ppl wil think he a god still , he has 17points in 33 games, his new contract very deserving...even though others with similar talent and contract are doing great, go figure lol

Points dont even matter.. His on ice play is horrible. He fumbles and losses the puck constantly. Plays die on his stick during the powerplay, he slows down the passing, circles around and just passes back to Hughes. And if he gets engaged physically he just losses balance and fall down. Not sure if I am just too critical, but these stuff are so obvious to see.
