Shame there isn't a neutral party to make disciplinary decisions, because the only consistent thing the NHL has going for it's disciplinary squad is it's inconsistency.

If you're going to hammer one, hammer them both.

The NHL is one of the most nepotistic leagues in all of professional sports. Until they begin to realize that they don't have to only hire former NHL players they will continue to make poor decisions.

It is hilarious that Landeskog just got suspended two games for a hit that was similar to the one Joseph made.

We might see more of the elite skilled guys do like Larkin did.  They need to send a message that they will do whatever it takes to protect themselves.  Could see sticks used instead of a glove punch too.

Yeah, sucker-punching someone is way more dangerous than pushing a player, who had back surgery last year, and was in a vulnerable position, hard to the board!

Welcome to the comedy show AKA the Department of Player Safety:picard:

I mean both are dangerous and should be suspended.

Sure Larkins punch didn’t connect. But if you punch an unsuspecting player like that and they get knocked out and smash their face on the ice it’s extremely dangerous.

Joseph should have gotten one game as well (assuming he’s not a repeat offender like Landeskog)

For some reason, my brain read the video title as "Larkin suspended 1 game for nothing".

Wouldn't surprise me that much, tbh.

EDIT: After watching it, maybe my read was more accurate. This is a fine at most to me. Definitely not good and illegal, but even a 5 minute major and a misconduct would maybe be enough to me.

Former players who constantly endangered their fellow players with cheap shots etc - Shanahan, Pronger to name a few. I have always advocated that players who played a clean game should be in charge of player safety - guys like Mike Bossy would make more sense ( yes I am biased lol) to hand out suspensions since they never were the ones dishing out the cheapshots.

I wonder if we'll see more trips and slew footing with even minor cross checks being called. Seems stupid to me, were cross checks an actual problem?

So they're ok with this?image.png

But reacting to it is not ok?  And it's hardly "unsuspecting"....I'd say the top picture is more an example of that!

I'm ok with it.  Dish it out, better be willing to take some.  But this pick and choose league will never get it right.
