Your opinion of Corey Hirsch's colour commentary work?

So it seems Corey Hirsch is trending on Twitter. A lot of the comments are quite negative of his colour commentary skills.

There were some favourable comments as well .............

So what do you guys think of the job Corey Hirsch is doing? Personally I prefer Cheech by a mile. But I can appreciate it's not Corey's regular gig and he's filling in under difficult circumstances on short notice.

I definitely wasn't a fan, but I think a lot of it can be chalked up to still being fairly new at it. He came across sounding really nervous and I think a lot of his inane stories about his experiences in the NHL were him trying to fill the air, as he probably had an expectation he needs to just keep talking. If he continues to get games I'm sure he'll improve.

He's only in until Cheech recovers from COVID.

I know, but I think he's probably getting groomed for a role, and filling in right now is part of that. For all we know they might just stick him in a different market too. There will be days when guys need off, and Cheech is 70. While he's got a lot of energy for his age, we can't expect him to do it forever.

I don't think he's good enough at this to make it full-time. We've been very spoiled with Robson, Hughson, Larscheid, Shorty, and Cheech in this market.

Juice if he wants it.

I think Juice is better suited for the panel. Also he has a young family. Maybe in like 8-10 years since I believe his kids have just hit their teens. Maybe earlier if they are good enough to play hockey at a high level.

I wouldn't mind Loui Debrusk. He use to do some Canucks games for time to time but he is almost always paired with a commentator I don't like. I like his old school approach and he is pretty unbiased when it comes to teams. Praises them all usually when they're good. Never craps on anyone but the refs from time to time.
