[Proposal] Blow up the Maple Laughs

Why did Arizona agree to LE, Beagle, and Roussel and a 1st for Garland and OEL?

They also got a 2nd and a 7th out us.

At the time of the trade OEL didn't have much value because of his contract.

AZ are also trying to stockpile picks, since they're firmly in rebuild mode.

A cellar dweller like AZ coughing up that type of package for a single player that could potentially walk in his first year of free agency eligibility would be lunacy.

Why would Arizona ever agree to this?

Yes Toronto need to trade Marner for a top notch D man and then resign O’Rielly.. Toronto is in a real mess with those 3 big salaries… No money for a goalie..

so happy we have Hughes signed at 7.8 million X 6 very good deal… Petey 7.3 X3 see how it works out…

1- Fire Dumb@$$. Maybe bring back Babcock as GM! :^)

2- AM to desert mutts, for Hayton, Chychrun, & 4 2022 2nd rounders. To enhance return, they could cover 2.5 mill x3 yrs. Just pay all of AM's bonus next summer for the welfare 'Yotes

3- MMarner to SJ, for Kane, Hertl(deal him at TDL for more picks/youth) & Eklund/ or 2022 1st rd

Sharks should pay extra for dumping their gambling, juvenile headache

4- Deal Willy and/or Reilly near TDL

Key would be to send all these underachievers out west.

Keep Tavares, as he deserves those UFA buck$ with a rebuilding mess.

In 3 or 4 yrs, they could be loaded with youth, & their books cleared of ugly red ink. In essence, they'd follow what the Sens did, 2 or 3 yrs behind.

1. Just make me GM or any of the other armchair GMs here and we could build a better team

I could give a rats *SS about the Leafs, the Blue Jays, the Raptors, or TFC, the City deserves all of them.

And the city smells.  Really smells bad.  Like an open overflowing septic tank.

In other words, Toronto is a smelly hole.

In 4 years all of their bad contracts will be off the books so they can start to rebuild at that time.  They should have a newly formed team worthy of contention by 2030...

That would also take a five year Burke plan...followed by the Shanny plan.  Could work!!?

Factually for whatever reason, guess it's the great lakes and the St Lawrence, it's not stinky.   It probably should stink with 7.5 million in the GTA and another 1 close by.   Maybe it's all that blue kool-aid they've been feeding their citizens all those years!?    As an aside.  Seattle stinks.   Smells like dead squids.

How can "doing it right" turn out so wrong? oh right, they are a pack of arrogant knobs that believe their own  media BS.

There's no choice, Matthews must go if they want to make a major change that brings in new young talent. Tavares and Marner are un-tradable.

I think denial will keep anything major from happening until this off season.

Reilly will walk as a UFA, gutting anything resembling offense from their back end, but that only opens up 5 mil which gets you a Poolman and a Stecher.

Maybe they could move Nylander for nothing tor cap space, and that gives them 11 mil with Reilly's cap hit, but they can't really replace enough good young players with that cap space and also go out and improve the d group.

AM to AZ for a crap ton of players and picks.

AZ will not trade picks. They are tanking and banking on the picks to save them in the future.

thats a mistake imo. Whats the chance any of those picks turn out to be as good a scorer as AM? Toronto otoh, are royally screwed the way they are constructed and the longer they wait the less return they get.

Poolman and Stecher are an upgrade over a defenseman who can't play defense.  Dubas will probably bring in guys like Del Zotto and Hunt though; he doesn't seem to care whether or not his defensemen can play like NHLers in their own zone.

And then he walks once he hits UFA.  Better to build through the draft and have a decent team once he hits free agency.

For giggles as I do not care about the Leafs. How does getting AM help AZ now. They get a goal scorer for sure but look at their team. They are like the Canucks when we had Megna and Chaput. Adding one player does nothing. By the time their drafted guys are ready and playing AM will be getting to the end of his contract. Plus, typical CDC thinking from the past, AM might get you a win or two that you do not want. It might take you out of dead last.
