he had so much help tho, from Hamhuis, Salo, Edler, etc. He didn't deserve that deal on his own, which we saw play out in Buffalo. We would have had to give up on a better d-man to keep him.

If I recall, while there may have been a rise in total team goals scored while Ehrhoff was here, goals from the defense went down (by quite a bit). He got to hog all of the PP and O=zone starts, so guys like Edler, Salo and Bieksa took a hit on their offensive production.

To be fair, Ehrhoff was going to Buffalo to win a Cup.

So he was leaving the 2 time Presidents trophy winning Canucks to win a cup in Buf. Ok. That was just PR speak from Buf. The new owner of Buf had is checkbook open and was hyping up how he serious about a cup to attract talent.

I remember reading fantasy news in a hockey magazine at Safeway (remember magazines?!) prior to the post-Carter year.

The advice, roughly paraphrased here was: "Don't draft the Sedins too high. Their potential for bust is through the roof without Carter to play with". Now, nothing personal against Anson - seemed like a good dude - but did he ever make a mistake not re-signing.

And also, could that also be the reason we don't buy magazines anymore? I mean, I'm open to other suggestions, but I feel like flabbergasting miscalculations like that could be the very reason they went out of style.

Carter blew it because he started to think it was all about him but it was the twins who made HIM look good with a lot of his goals bring simple tap-ins etc from players being drawn out of position by the twins, same with erhoff, he almost sucked completely with the sharks to the point of fans nicknaming him errorhoff but not in Vancouver so much because playing with the twins who did most of the work which didn't really require too much from linemates to look good and not make many mistakes.

You've got it backwards. flabbergasting miscalculations like that drive engagement. Magazines died because of the internet

And that was the irony of the situation...
