Thought about this a little harder last night, and yeah........I’d probably pass on Kane as well.  Hockey wise, he’s *exactly* what this team needs and he could be had at an extreme bargain, but there’s just too much risk involved when you consider his character (or lack thereof).  His age and cap hit likely won’t age well either.

I know this is easily said and much harder to actually swallow in reality - but I'd rather lose with a character group like we had with the Sedin's back in the day than win with a group of proven scum-bags like Chicago had.  If winning means we have no other options but to sign/trade for bad human beings - count me out.   Unlike others (not saying yourself), I don't put winning above everything else in life.

I think we'll forget about Kane if we have Podz-Petey-Klim on a line together.

Evander Kane is an absolute train wreck outside of the rink and probably does rub many teammates the wrong way inside the lockerroom.  You know who else fit that description once upon a time?  Dennis Rodman.....and the guy helped both the Pistons and Bulls win championships.  
 

The Canucks need a guy who is fast, skilled, big, and plays with an edge.  Yes, Kane comes with baggage.  You know who else comes with baggage?  Tony DeAngelo, and the Canes were willing to give him a clean slate because the guy is a damned good hockey player that can help the team win.

 

To San Jose:  Tanner Pearson + Brandon Sutter

 

To Vancouver:  Evander Kane 

 

I don’t know if this quite works from a cap perspective, but if it doesn’t, then I also suggest that we move Tyler Motte in an independent deal for a draft pick.

It’s like that old Kanye West song:  “harder, better, faster, stronger.”

There’s other ways to add those skillsets and fundamentals. Kane has teammates from Winnipeg, Buffalo, and now San Jose complaining about him. Sexual assault charges, ex-wives and girlfriends saying things. All of the things over the years are obviously true and there’s no denying it.
He’s a gambling addict, an alcoholic, a terrible husband with his accountability and money, a bad locker room leader, and overall a massively egotistical, confused, lost, ***hole. My sister is a server at Cactus Club Burnaby and said he came in there two months ago with a group of buddies to bet on and play their fantasy football league. She confirmed that he is an extremely rude person with no respect and also didn’t tip well (surprise surprise Evander the millions in debt hotshot travelling gambler). F*** this guy. I hope he loses his cars, houses, all his money, his NHL career, and admits himself into some major counselling and soul searching.

Yeah my friend today also confirmed that E.Kane is a douchebag.  He apparently refused to play tennis with a shirt on at Arbutis Tennis Club in Vancouver.  When asked to do so, he responded, “when you have a million dollar body like I do, why should I deny the world of seeing it?”

Lol I like how he’s still so full of himself and rude yet he’s literally $30 million dollars in debt, all his girlfriends left him and now his wife left him. He doesn’t even take care of his own children, none of his teammates in the NHL have ever liked him, he’s inconsistent, and is losing his house and assets. Real stand up amazing man you are Evander. Not even all the money in the world could make any woman enjoy that type of person nor could it fix his personal problems.

Wow.   Now i actually wish Cooke beat him in that fight instead.   Guys like that no class...he's lucky we never crossed paths, or a few of the friends i've had over the years acting like that.      I don't even like Tennis.   Just wow.

He'll find his way out of San Jose for sure. It's just a matter of how it happens and where he ends up, assuming it's in the NHL and not KHL. I'm not nearly as hyped about the prospect of Evander Kane-as-Vancouver Canuck in 2021 as I was in 2019, but, I'm also not going to be happy if he ends up resurrecting his career and life with a division foe, either. His trade value is at an all-time low right now. So, he can definitely be had. SOMETHING is likely to happen. The question is: will the GM who makes the move be getting a helper or a headache?

Not surprising, coming from a fan of this team, this market.

Sure, winning isn't everything...but, yes, it ultimately is. The Vancouver Canucks will soon have a new Head Coach, and, eventually GM because they don't do enough of it.
