[Trade] Eichel and 2023 3rd to Vegas for Tuch, Krebs, 2022 1st, and 2023 2nd

I feel like this is a decent deal for both sides. Buffalo got back a bit more than I expected and Vegas got their 1C IF he can return healthy which at this point, is a big risk. Still not sure how Vegas will make this work under the cap without pulling a Tampa though.

This also makes Vegas significantly worse in the short term and unless they start pulling some wins together, they could be too far back by the time Eichel is back ready to play.

I don't think Vegas wanted to include Krebs but the flames dangling Tkachuk probably left them no choice. Eichel's health will determine how good or bad this deal is. Curious to see how Vegas makes this work under the cap?

Mark Stone to LTIR until the playoffs.

Then deal with the problem in the off season.

Vegas (potentially) lands the first line C they have been lacking. If eichel can return to form and fully recover from his neck injury, this could bode very well for them. Glad Calgary did not land him. Hope the Sabres make the playoffs this year and the VGK don't. What a story that would make!!!

I'm not the biggest Eichel fan but I think Sabres missed on this one. They needed a bona-fide center or center prospect in return. Tuch is good, the first is a middle first round at best. Pods is a better prospect than Krebs. Weak. Knock out the exchange of thirds and if Buffalo gets Hague it's better.

This doesn’t actually seem like a lot for Eichel.

Tuch is a fine player, Krebs is a solid but not elite prospect.  A top ten protected 1st… half the guys later in the 1st round never amount to anything at all.

On the other side, Vegas is going to have to destroy their team in other trades to make this work.

I don’t think I have ever seen a trade where it looks like both teams involved are going to come out worse.

Buffalo couldn't really come out worse, JE was never going to play for them again.

Something along the lines of Pearson, Podkolzin and 1st. Tuch has more value than Pearson though.

We really don't have a comparable to Tuch on our roster, which makes it kinda difficult. Boeser, Miller and Garland all have more value, but Pearson has less and Hogz is kind of a question mark.

1st

Miller

Klimovich

Was hoping Calgary was going to pull the trade off. Would have been fantastic for the Battle of Alberta. I'm not a fan of either team but would love to see Eichel vs McDavid more than twice a year, especially if Eichel is surrounded by better talent than Buffalo offered.

Also, my condolences to Tuch and Krebs.  Wouldn't wish a move to that tire fire franchise on anyone...except Marchand, I hate Marchand that much.

Just for $&!#s and giggles, what would be a comparable package from the Canucks?

Not sure we have similar pieces.

Best I can do is say Virtanen (From 2 or 3 years ago where there was still a perceived good chance of success), Garland, 1st and 4th picks (instead of 3rd, because our 1st is more valuable than Vegas').

How this trade plays out isn't immediately obvious. Mostly it will depend on what kind of player Eichel is once recovered, but I do think that Krebs is a huge question mark right now.

Tuch is out of our conference so that’s a good thing. He’s a beast in the playoffs. Buf was already a much harder working team this year without Eichel, so this should make them better.

As for Vegas, if Eichel returns to form, it is hard to imagine them not winning a cup with this group. Though Tuch is a big loss for their playoff drive.

If I was Buf, I would of tried to get a player like Hague thrown in.

This.

I think people seriously underrate Tuch.  He's basically a bigger, stronger, faster, and arguably more talented version of JT Miller.   It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Tuch becomes a 1st line power forward.

I am glad Tuch is in the east now. He was turning out to be a Canuck killer.
