Dr. Jeff Patterson. Expert in reading how a hockey player physically reacts to a question.

Dude, comets are totally safe. It's the black holes that you got to be worried about.

In all seriousness though, it has to do with Vancouver having a limited amount of professional sports teams, so when the Canucks do something, it generates tweets and medical analysis from the experts.

Apparently Hughs was sulking a bit about being moved off the #1 pp unit and being replaced with OEL in practice

It's not like he was being demoted for a tweener. OEL is a star D man with an A, making 8+ million salary. Hughs shouldn't be whinging about being moved for OEL.

We have a 24th ranked powerplay that just went 1 for 14…

Nobody should be surprised if they were taken off the first unit.

The powerplay needed a mix up. They were literally doing the same plays that weren’t working again and again.

Maybe OEL can put the puck in Petey’s sweet spot cause Hughes wasn’t. :bigblush:

I'm still not sure what the Canucks' identity is. I like their fast skilled play but often it's sprinkled between long segments of predictable static and soft play. Perhaps that's Green's weapon. Keep them guessing and pounce if they over adjust. The rhetoric of being hard to play against has not crystallized into reality. Unfortunately other teams are likely to favour playing the nucks with their back-up goalie.

Identity by 20GP is my hope.

You make a fair point in that it’s not obvious who we want to be as a team out there.  With the speed and skill we have I’m not sure we are seeing the team play to it’s strengths yet.

The defense seems to have an identity. Physical, heavy, complimented with talented puck movers in the top two pairs.

Mobile and hostile. TM

New looks can be created with the same personal. I have no problem with OEL and Garland but the PP is not a Hughes problem. It’s how we execute. We don’t move the puck quick enough. We hold onto it for too long and there’s no urgency.

It’s the 5 guys on the ice working together that needs to change. Put any guys out there you want. Until the direction and plan changes we will continue to Struggle

Totally agree. I think Quinn being taken off is a mistake unless they plan on giving each unit the same or close minutes.

Quinn is often the only guy that moves around and nobody walks the line better and he is insanely good at keeping the puck in.

I'd like to see them use multiple configurations to keep teams guessing. Have a unit with both OEL and Quinn and then have 2 units that are equal.

I know that tradionally you have a 1a 1b type deal but not many teams have 2-4 Dmen that can quarterback a pp, (Quinn, OEL, Myers, Rathbone) and 7-8 forwards that wouldn't look out of place on a top unit.

The status quo of loading up a top unit and have the on for 90 seconds is a waste when it means guys like Hoglander, Brock or one of Quinn or OEL or Garland or Bo get 30 seconds in which 10-15 seconds is spent setting up.

Quinn on pp2 is fine but Quinn on pp2 with 30 seconds is not. That being said if it works great that's what matters but he's not the guy I would take off.
