Are we witnessing the greatest assembly of incompatible Canucks players in team history?

Hey RU

this is a good topic, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at things) this is not the MOST incompatible team ever assembled.

The masses have spoken and that honor goes to the Messier era team.

That has caused your topic to be derailed by those who wish to reminisce about the bad old days rather than talk about this team.

there is one major difference between team Messier and team Benning

Team Messier was bad because of egos and personal dislikes

Team Benning is bad because Jim has assembled a team that is missing some needed parts.

Possibly, in an effort to bring this discussion back on track, you could change the title to: "is this the second most incompatible team?"

or possibly "What are the missing parts of team Benning that are missing?"

I'll give you my thoughts in another post

Because I think this is a relevant topic without the superlative(!!!!)

Thanks - and of course it's a relevant topic- yet some Benning disciples are unable to look at the state of this team - for what it is - NOT - what Uncle Jim tells them to believe it is.

After almost a decade of promises and wholesale changes instigated by Jim which have delivered nothing but the same old results year after year, I - like many others, are in serious doubt he has assemled a winning cohesive team, as we're off to the same old start as the last several years and it's pretty clear (I think to just about everyone) that there are no visible synergies apparent on this years team.    I really hope I'm dead wrong and will graciously eat my words - but something appears seriously amiss on this team.

The longer Green sticks around the more prospects were going to lose.

Heck even EP hinted as much in the off season. Including only signing for 3 years.

Exactly.

The Stars are not going to sign here if we continue with this nonsense.

SHOUT OUT TO RAY FERRARO on twitter , who was quoted on the Donnie & Dhali show today on CHEK TV where Ray stated the exact same thing as I stated at the top of this post and in the subject title (a week ago) - that Jim B. assembled a bunch of incompatible players unable to accomplish anything together.     *******************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Eating words is better with Mayo.  But i think this is what it probably looks like doing it graciously. bread eating GIF

LOL, looks like that guy is one of the Rogers Place $9:00 Grilled cheese sandwich preparers from up on level 300.    My buddy always said it was the "the special butter" they used that gave them that unique aroma, but now you've confirmed what I always suspected that those things had a taste of facial sweat and spit on them.   Thanks for confirming!

(P.S.: Guess what the Rogers Place $12 Poutine is made out of??????)

With yet another loss in a never ending cycle of failure & disjointed play on the ice - following a nearly complete new cast of players brought in over the past couple of years (including 11 new players this year alone - which was expected to turn the team around),   is it possible that we are witnessing the greatest assembly of incompatable players ever put together in team history?

I think you have come very close to the truth.  You may have hit the nail on the head. Jim doesn't know how to build a team!

I think we are missing the meat and potatoes.  The Motte types. The bottom six is a mess and the defensive part of our defense is missing.

Myers , OEL and Hughes are similar players. Style wise.

Poolman is average and Hamonic has been missing in action.

Rathbone is similar to Hughes.

don't forget Garland, Hoglander, Petan, Palmu, Lockwood, Madden and Manyukin

and Motte, Highmore, maybe Lockwood belongs here

It's clear as a Bell after games like tonight against the Pens - that Benning has assembled an Ardvark Team of odd shaped pegs - none of which fit together.    Not one single forward or defensive line looks in sync together. Not one!

This teams needs to be Blown up under new direction and leadership.  The sooner Aqua-Lini accepts this the sooner the rebuild can begin.   Anything less than this will be a continuation of the never ending feeble Benning/Green dismal results we've seen for almost A DECADE.

I think you're right, I didnt at the beginning of the season though. Part of it is I think a lot of players chronically underperform under Greens system (Schmidt, Edler, Tanev, Markstrom.. even Travis Boyd is on pace for 30 goals) but we definitely got worse when some of the pieces were let go.

- We got worse defensively and on the PK trying to get Poolman and/or Hamonic to do Tanev's job. We got a bit worse defensively replacing Edler with OEL (but that probably changes when OEL is playing a better system).
- We also got worse at faceoffs losing Beagle
- We got softer losing Roussel and Mackewen
- We got less empty netters without Player Name
- We got worse offensively without Toffoli
- For now, we got a bit worse goaltending wise (Demko is amazing but Markstrom was literally stealing games for us that we had no business winning last year.. Demko isnt quite there yet, hopefully we can ice a competent roster so that isnt needed from him anyway)
- Our bottom six when Sutter and Motte were both healthy was actually pretty good - sutter was great on the PK and won a lot of face offs, and also had a great shot
