Ilya Mikheyev
Pierre LeBrun: Quote Eric Staal continues to skate every day at his home in Minnesota with the hope the phone will soon ring for his services. The UFA center hasn’t given up hope yet on returning for another NHL season. His agent, Rick Curran, has been in regular dialogue with 3-4 teams and I think the sense is that around U.S. Thanksgiving those teams might decide whether or not they need to bring in a guy like Staal, who would come in cheap on a minimum contract. I find it hard to believe Staal can’t help a team still. Goal:thecup
Interesting thanks. I would think we would be one of those 3 or 4 teams depending on expectations for Sutter's return. 1
Popular Post combover
He would be a huge improvement over lammiko and Dickenson. he might even win a face off 3 2

Phil_314
Left handed, don't care. Getting a sizable 4th C and winner who has played on the PK, is skilled in draws (48% is his worst over the past couple seasons) for league min is a no-brainer. BureBurrito
Now there is a character PK/4th line guy we could of signed at league minimum that we didn't need to trade a draft pick for.... RakuRaku
He'd be an awesome replacement for Sutter but some reports indicated he'll only consider US teams closer to home in Minnesota.

Warhippy
He'll end up in Carolina or Tampa Super cheap 4th line C on his way to a cup run 1 1
Provost
Lets see... veteran probably wants a chance to win or a place he is comfortable in like close to home. We would really fit neither. 1

Well he's already won the cup so maybe giving him some more money might convince him to join the Canucks
R3aL
Probably deciding between yotes and us.. right? Lol
RWJC
I would be absolutely shocked if he came to Van.
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Probably not a fit here. But if there was a mirror image clone of Staal (ie: right handed shot), I’d probably offer him well over league minimum to step in to replace Sutter. Gnarcore
With all the money he's made he has chosen Minnesota as his home? Edited November 13, 2021 by Gnarcore
Goal:thecup
There has to be room on the roster for Eric considering all the smurfs we have hang'n 'roun'.
Sharpshooter
The leadership intangibles may be worth looking into further. Our culture seems bereft of guys like Staal. I would welcome his addition.

He doesn’t want to play in Canada. And considering he’s signing for league minimum he’ll sign with a contender not the tire fire currently going on here.

Lots of players in multiple sports have chosen to retire in Minnesota after their playing days. I've never been so I can't attest to it, but apparently its a nice place to live. Especially if people are into outdoorsy things like hunting/fishing etc. That said....there are way way way way way nicer places. Especially if you have money.
