You for sure were.   Plus i enjoyed your pushback.   And hate Messier for that brutal crosscheck in 94!

Hate is a strong word.

That said - I too hate-on Mark Messier the player, for several things that he has done & avoided accountability for in that ‘94 series vs the Canucks, and before and beyond that.

He is without a doubt, the biggest O-6 enabled cheater-in-chief ever! He is also chronically used by the league to send hypocritical mixed-messages to the league’s players counter to all of the progressive measures that the international hockey community & junior hockey league’s have taken.

^Wow! The violence of the video showing Messier clocking Modano blindside from behind with a raised-elbow/shoulder bluntly to the head, apparently cannot be shown, in certain mediums - for being too graphic or disturbing to kids! Hardly the respectable union bro here, let alone a laudable team-captain, who signed an NHL contract agreeing to abide by the rules & confines of the the game instituted to keep his union brothers safe from crippling or catastrophic injury that could endanger their livelihoods & quality of life after hockey. Captains are supposed to be leaders & exemplars which many have more properly been.

^YET, the NHL decided, in their warped wisdom, that it was in the league’s ‘best’ interests to name a modern-day Mark Messier Leadership Award after ^this guy?!! As a role-model & humanitarian??! What??!! This dude spent more time out of our fair city than in it, when he was briefly the Canucks’ team Captain and his partnerships with Nike & the league to promote & give away helmets, have been deflective & self-serving. By invitation he participated in a lucrative enterprise where he ‘helped’ to design concussion-proof helmets & attempted to garner some early brand loyalty for profits down the road. How about reducing concussions by aknowledging the debauchery of playing the game the ‘wrong’ way, Mark?!

Messier wasn’t even a vigilante - he was just mean-spirited, unhinged by the lack of NHL constraint, unfettered & morally void of respect for the people who had agreed to take to the ice with him.

By the way - neither of the posted  incidents above received penalties from the league’s on-ice zebras! Both incidents could/should have resulted in major or match penalties & possible suspension, even by the day’s standards.

MM was enabled, for sure! Just sew  a large letter ‘E’ over the left front of his suit jacket! He can wear it whenever he has to make a public appearance. The LEAST he can do to atone for his misdeeds now, is to wear it in recompense for stealing the glory from so many more honourable players, who endeavoured to set better examples  for humanity by playing the game the ‘right’ way.

PS

Ex-‘hawk Duncan Keith: gets an ‘E’ too.

Rainy morn in Osaka, & stuck in our homely abode. If they lay an egg today, I DEMAND Green is sent to the ECHL!

Wife just alerted me the blasted crows were digging into our garbage bags(just before the musical garbage truck arrived). Hope this isn't a nasty omen, as we prepare to face that degenerate-franchise, with tainted, tarred feathers(& scandals galore!)...
