Thing is, he (and others) have stated emphatically that JT will/won't and none of us know what JT will do. He obviously is looking for his big payday...but he also knows what this team is about and, as a fierce competitor, seems like he'd love to stick around and see it play out. The finished product without COVID or stale coaching getting in the way.

It's not really being presented as much of an "unknown" as a given. I'm not arguing out of habit...more so, just want people to not state things like fact that are, in fact, unknown at this point.  Definitely have grown tired of the entire topic at this point (and am going out soon so will relieve you guys of my rebuttals).

"Likely won't include Miller" stuff.

Cheers!  I have gotten a different vibe from him.

Everyone knows that the outcome is unknown.  That’s the fun of sports no?  We’re just talking about what we’d like to see happen vs what we think is most likely. And of course, are those two the same.

For me they are not the same.  I would like Miller to sign at a deal that is good for the team.  I do not see this as the most likely scenario however.  Therefore I am interested in discussion around alternatives.  Perhaps this discussion makes it seem as if I have “assumed” he will move on but that is not the case.  I have a “hope for the best, prepare for the worst” mentality.

Anyways I’m not trying to antagonize or argue with you.  Simply trying to explain where myself and (I believe) others are coming from.

I agree, there is a lot of "this is going to happen and that is going to happen" but no one really knows for sure except for Miller and Management. What I do know is that usually these things get dragged out ,but, at the end of the day, the player usually stays and some compromise is met.

We are a long ways away from the trade deadline so there really is no real panic to have any resolution at this stage of the game.

That doesn't stop many of us for having our own "OPINIONS" though. ::D

7? people signed with  $44.5 mill left.

But that does not include Miller- if he's still here

Horvat, if he's still here

Hoglanders next deal

Podz new deal

Myers, or his replacement

and so on.

Also note-Cap Friendly shows E.P as an RFA- so he isn't walking away, despite the whole "Wanna play on winner" thing. As to why he signed a short term deal? More money to take the short dea,l and wait for the cap to go up before signing long term. So more than just one reason.

You are also panicking over nothing IMO, You can't have much more of a clean slate then what we will go through the next two off seasons. Every single bad contract gone.  ( poolman is here but at 2.5 is not too bad ) Over half the cap available sign EP + horvat to the big 8 year deals + bridges for the guys coming off ELCs + rebuild the D. The money will be there. Zero reason to panic when close to 3/4 of the cap is off the books lol. Look around the league, Even 50 point guys coming off ELCs / short prove it deals still only get in the 3's. Everything fans panic about is a non issue.

Miller sign in the 7s, boeser moves next. Miller moves boeser stays for 2 of the 3 years and we move him still. Everything points to boeser being moved. Garland too but that's a solid contract at his age. Still have lots of time to drive his value up before moving on from him for younger ELC talent as the cap space becomes needed.

This will be yearly cycles of out with the old in with the new. Fans need to get use to it if we want to have a large competitive window. I understand why our fanbase has ptsd when it comes to cap allocation but it SHOULDNT be an issue for quite some time if we apply patience like JR preaches every interview:)

I haven't said anything like "you are being a head in the sand ostrich with an inability to see common logic?"

So why do you feel alright with saying I'm "panicking"

LOL if you said the first part...then yes, you actually did say it. The second part matters little to me. Still said it. I don't care how you rationalize or justify it...it's unknown at this point. Which is my point.

So, just to clarify, we still haven't traded him after 1106 pages?

I don't know who the hell JR and Allvin are listening to, but it sure as hell isn't the fans on this board.......

:frantic::frantic::frantic::frantic::frantic::frantic:     :P

Pfft!  Yeah right!  You probably also believe that the earth is round and Elvis is dead.

What a sheep!

Anyone who believe we are in cap trouble starting next off season is allowing the media to manipulate their way of thinking. That's clear cut panicking over non issues in my mind. I didn't mean to insult you if you took it that way

On a short 5 year deal, sounds fine to me.

however I don't think that sounds good enough to Miller- for either dollars, or term.

Not a chance. I have a feeling he wants like 9x8 and we are at slightly under huggy money for 6 years. No way he's keen on that though. Maybe we explode to start the year and he sees value in taking a bit less to keep growing with the group. Who knows really

Sadly, covid really screwed this team, just about as much as JB errors, given some of his mistakes are directly related to not enough cap becoming available when thought.

The slight positive spin I would put on that is we have a real good top 9, Maybe even a good 4th line as I see all these numbers saying Lazar is at the top of the league in terms of throwing hits. Blues fans speak highly of Joshua as well. Via trades we could swap a winger or two and fix the D that way.

But yeah it is a shame we elected to not weaponize our cap when we were a bottom feeder, Gaining assets to speed up the rebuild. Shot ourselves in the foot by taking up all that cap with overpaid free agents lol. That will hurt for awhile. Especially if this group never wins a cup lol

I'm looking forward to Joshua. I bet he makes the team and does well.

He won't put up points but he'll go. I like that he has bite too. Very few Canucks have bite.

He's Injured alot but a Motte-lazar-joshua line would be what we are looking for imo

I'm not sure where Hogz lands in all this?

Both him and Garland are my question marks.

We have waay to many fwds. But at the same time I think it's pre planning for a Miller trade. I don't want to waste hogs on the 4th line, But who does he push out? Not that I want to but what could Rathbone + hogs get us? In terms of a younger rhd? A bad idea to be trading ELC guys in our position obvs but just a thought

I've seen folk here say that JR has stated Joshua will be on the team next year- and Rathbone as well.

PA is ultra high on him. We deserve to find diamond in the rough bottom end roster guys after what we have had to go through

I'm gonna guess nothing but who knows?

I agree too many forwards so it will be interesting who gets traded/cut.
