Newhook and byram are the 2 prized pieces in any Miller trade involving Colorado so if we can swindle one of them, that’s a WIN!

to col: Miller, hoglander

to van: girard, newhook, 1st pick 2023

mikheyev-petey-boeser

kuzy-horvat-garland

pearson-newhook-podkolzin

Joshua-Dickinson-lazar

OEL-girard

hughes-schenn

dermott-Myers

sure Girard isn’t the perfect fit but a top 4 puck moving defenseman nonetheless

And, their lunch money, dammit!!!

;)

Girard makes no sense for us.

I'd only do it if we had a 2nd deal lined up to move Girard for something else.

Why not?  Girard is an excellent, dynamic dman and though he's not big, he's not soft either. He can also play both sides.  Seems like a good fit to me.

Hughes/Rathbone are similar players in size & skill, adding Girard on top makes us smaller.

Also having lefties in OEL & Dermott, ideally we'd find a good righty.

Yes in an ideal world we would get a big young top 4 RD. Although a smaller guy, Girard is definitely a top 4 D, can play RD, and he's 24 years old signed for 5 more seasons.

But the clock is ticking on Miller. If that's the best offer, I still think Girard is a pretty good asset as part of the return for Miller (e.g. Compher + Girard + 1st). Since Girard is still so young and signed long term, there would be no short term pressure to move him if he didn't quite fit the roster immediately.

Ideally, I agree.  However, they are now in the territory getting the best deal they can get, rather than one to fiil a specific need.  Those windows have closed.

I do wonder what will come first a JT Trade or the introduction of Digital ID. My bet is on the latter.

I do think that whatever goes down the situation of Bo and JT that it will be announced at the same time (If they are even going to do something soon)

They are 2 valuable assets to the team (as players or trades)

Maybe they got one deal accepted and waiting on the 2nd to announce?

Having spoken to four NHL GM’s just today, VHN can report that there are (at least) two Metro Division teams still interested in the Canucks top centre. Where that leads depends on price point and timing.

I admit to having a bad track record in players I have hitched my wagon to as a fan. Matt Cooke, Todd Bertuzzi, Zack Kassian all have been stated or defended as my favourite player at one time haha aside from Virtanen.

Don’t worry guys he may yet turn it around then you can find a great deal on buy n sell

With Daley confident the cap will be going up a lot for the 24-25 season,  possibly mid 90s a ton of cap off the books next season, they need to re-sign him.

And not just because I think he's an integral piece either.

The fact is if we move him now we have a hole to fill. Possibly as soon as next summer there's going to be contracts signed that will be taking into account the cap will be at least 92 million (pre pandemic numbers but the numbers look better now, than before, due to the TV deal being a homerun.)

So in order to sign a comparable player, with multiple teams bidding, even if said ufa chooses us it will be a much higher number.

With the ability to do 8 years and JT willing to sign after a career year, possibly losing $ by not waiting, we get him at flat cap price, which will be huge since aside from Quinn the rest of the young core will be signing deals based off of a much higher cap.

8×8.5 for JT and 8×7.5 -8 for Horvat. Both easy to fit under the cap with all the buyouts, Loungo penalty, and contracts like Pearson,  Myers,  Dickenson,  coming off the books and being replaced internally.

I think JT should be named Captain.

The video of BO celebrating in the bubble with a girl like scream made me sway.

When things are going JT's way he is great, but there are times where he acts like a lil bi**h out there and that is detrimental to the youth on this club.  Bo is the captain for a reason.

The question then is who, from the Metro, has the combination of cap/assets to effect a transaction?  Most of the potential teams are already over the cap and will need to use LTIR to be compliant. That means if there's a potential deal there's almost certainly a 'dud' contract coming back attached to other assets of some kind?

in all seriousness, I would consider trading Bo and then giving JT the captaincy and money he wants to stay here,

Bo to COL or NJD- imagine the haul

Bo and Hogz to COL for Newhook + Byram + 1st then sign E rod

Kuz Petey Boesser

MIller Newhook Milk

Podz E Rod Garland

Pearson Lazar Joshua

Lockwood

OEL Myers

Hughes Byram

Rathbone Schenn
