It's too bad Messier didn't know that.  Things could have been way different.

Messier had a massive ego. He couldn't accept the fact he wasn't the Captain.

Linden just wanting what's best for the team gave it up. That should have been a red flag for Pat right there.

I have since faded on my liking of Horvat. When other players get wrecked, Horvat turns away the other cheek - typical Canuck hockey. Now maybe Horvat's game isn't scrappy, but if you're there and you SEE something bad happen. People should step up, regardless of their size. I know if someone was getting beat up, would you really just turn around and pretend you didn't see it?

That's what Horvat did when Podkolzin got hit hard.

It's either Horvat or Miller and nobody else.

I think Garland could be an underdog since he's a heart and soul player but he should wear an A before even being considered for the C.

Let Boeser, Petey, Hughes play without any pressures.

And Ekman-Larsson did not seem to like wearing the C in Arizona. I think he's a player that's fine with wearing an A but that's it.

Myers *barf*.

Interesting.

Judging by most in this thread, Bo is untouchable.

A struggling, unpassionate, underachieving team.

Traditionally, you would look at the coach and then the captain for leadership and performance during these times.

That said, I can't see Bo being stripped nor do I think he should. Just weird that he has avoided criticism so far this year. I do sometimes wonder what type of player he would be without the C, wonder if he would feel less stress and get back to being The Ox.

I got an idea....now, hear me out...maybe we fire the coach? I know...wild thought.

How many current captains actually gets scrappy in game?

Toews

Bergeron

Josi

McDavid

Tavares

Kopitar

Hischier

Crosby

Couture

Giordano

O’Reilly

Stone

Barkov

Larkin

Spurgeon

None of these captains, I would consider scrappy players.

I think OEL would be better but you stick with Bo unless you're trading him.

According to the Arizona media OEL really struggled as Captain for the Yotes. The feeling is that there was too much pressure put on him with the C.

My answer would be Horvat if he's still with the team. Otherwise no one

I think if Horvat is going to remain Captain then he should make this his team and not just be Hank 2.0.

Mold this team to how he wants and maybe add a little sandpaper and elbow grease into the mindset of the players.

Dont make excuses and walk the walk.

Sense when the team needs a pickup and do something about it.

Otherwise,  give it to OEL.

I love the Sedins to death, but this is the one aspect of their leadership that was passed onto Horvat and the team that I'm not a big fan of.

I think i'm going to have the image of Marchand speed bagging Daniel in my head for the rest of my life :(

Henrik played below the dot in the corners and the boards.

Don't underestimate the amount of physical damage he and Daniel have taken over the years. I bet you their back's destroyed.

IMO, they led by example. They could lead the team out of a slump. They'll feel responsible when things aren't going well and figure out a way to score.

What did Bo do to lead this team out of a slump? What physical punishments does he take? None.

Don't compare Henrik to Bo. Henrik was a good leader.

Miller seems to be the heart and soul on the ice for this team.

Bo seems to be the guy players look to whether if they need guidance/advice. Bo also elevates his game when it counts. Look at both times he was in the playoffs.

Yep, he tied for 4th with Hedman for Goals in 2019/2020 Playing 8 Less games. Point was #1 with 14

Since our beloved Canucks are not functioning properly, who should be the Captain of the Vancouver Canucks?

OEL should. Bo isn't young anymore but I couldn't believe they made him cpt at the time. Captains should be one of the older players. 30+

But young captains is common in the NHL now. Some marketing firm probably figured out that you get x amount more jerseys sold if you make one of the stars captain, regardless of their age. Probably a  corporate decision. Instead of a hockey one.
