I love the Sedins to death, but this is the one aspect of their leadership that was passed onto Horvat and the team that I'm not a big fan of.

I think i'm going to have the image of Marchand speed bagging Daniel in my head for the rest of my life :(

Marchand what a little punk lol.   Not like i wouldn't have loved more of that on my team but no way he'd have bothered if we had a Gino or Brashear on the team. Listening to how former players used to say "don't do anything to make Brashear mad" to their chirpers...Having a "monster" or two on your team never hurt.   Sucks to review things back then. Team was amazing but just didn't have the right stuff.   They'd make mince meat of what we have now (either team).

We all know what the issue is. There is a GM who extended a flawed coach and is now pointing the finger at the players who are unable to thrive under Green's tutelage.  Bo isn't the problem,  neither is Miller. The problem is the coach & GM.

Maybe.   Fun thing is either way we will get to find out either way.    Green pointing fingers ... lol that's on dialogue i'm not buying, please name one player he's singled out so far?   He's made comments about our PK.   But "throwing them under the bus" dialogue is not really the case.   Do wish we had Torts or Burke right now, because the sound bites would be a lot more blunt then they probably should be, and a heck of a lot blunter then they've actually been.   Not really a fan of the media access these days ... why is it that a coach and players need to do this after every single game!  Don't see what's wrong with just a few brief interviews in between periods and with the stars of the game like it used to be.    Stupid waste of time.

How many current captains actually gets scrappy in game?

Toews

Bergeron

Josi

McDavid

Tavares

Kopitar

Hischier

Crosby

Couture

Giordano

O’Reilly

Stone

Barkov

Larkin

Spurgeon

None of these captains, I would consider scrappy players.

Pretty much. I think some have unrealistic expectations of what a captain looks like in the modern NHL, times have changed. Gone are 80's, 90's, and 2000's captains that hacked, punched, ect. Gone are the line brawls, gone is that level of aggression and retaliation. Those kind of players are unicorns now, and even your rare fighter like Reaves isn't the same.

Leadership looks like a lot of different things to a lot of different people, and it may just be that older fans pine for what they saw as leadership during previous decades. That NHL is gone and it isn't coming back.

This isn't to say Horvat doesn't need to be better, he does. But that can be said of almost every player we've got on our team, including the one's who have played well. The entire team has struggled and looked out of sorts, and I don't believe what we're seeing is an accurate gauge of the capabilities of individual players.

Fire the coach and see how that impacts the team play and culture. Move on from GM, be that firing or walking away from him when his contract expires.

Glad about this poll actually because it shows the majority of us want Bo as captain.

He's been good and we shouldn't forget all the terrible years where he was one of the only young prospect we really had, on a lackluster team and then spent years with poor line mates (only recently has he started getting better line mates).

The team is struggling for sure right now, but Bo isn't the issue I feel. He's been loyal and is a solid player. As long as the guys in the room are happy with him then I think he should stay captain for as long as he plays in Van.

Also OEL I get it, he's experienced, but does he really want to be captain? Seems like he didn't do great in Arizona with that responsibility (obviously not fully his fault - bad team/org), but maybe it is just better to give him an A and let him focus on his own play.

Brad Hunt, of course.

Seriously though, stick with Bo. It's his team. Everyone (except management apparently ) knows the meat of the problem is coaching. Make changes there, give the team (the core, anyway) a chance to bounce back as they are, and reevaluate. Give these players a real opportunity to rally back with one another and I think they'll be stronger for it.

Miller is not the problem.

We are in the midst of one of the worst seasons ever for the Canucks, Bo is under performing and is

not a factor ALOT of nights face-offs not withstanding but yes lets continue with him as captain.

Pray someone tell me WHY Horvat should remain our captain? What is he doing that makes him

the best choice for our captain? Its homerism at its worst its elevating a player OVER the team.

I can tell you why I think Miller is a better choice than Horvat tho but I want to hear the fan base

articulate WHY Horvat is the best choice for captain anyone at all just tell me. Go ahead.

Smyl also went through this.   His teams had a ton of heart just had to play against two of the very best teams the leagues ever seen before or since all season long.     What we have now?   Well i guess at least we have a team.

And why?   Well maybe they should have waited, but the only guy i'd welcome is JT Miller other then Horvat.    Could you imagine if it was EP?!!! Ugh.   Not again.  No freaking thanks.   Even if his play was up to his par line.

Edit:  One of the worst starts isn't one of the worst seasons.   But sure it's not promising is it.

Really bad examples. Most of them don't back down, at least not to the extent that Horvat does. Have you actually watched Crosby play? He's not Garland, but he's gotten into quite a few scuffles. Giordano is tough as nails. Horvat is a soft spoken leader, which I don't mind. I just prefer that he not turn away and avoid scuffles when the opportunity for him to step up comes.

Horvat is far from the problem. He's our captain, whether you like it or not. He was molded into it since the day we drafted him.

That is the problem. It was decided when Horvat was 18 that he would be our new captain. He didn't earn it, he didn't bring veteran experience or lead by example.

I like Horvat, but I'm concerned that there may be a better option for who should captain this team and Horvat is not exactly inspiring or leading by example when the chips are down.

It's too bad Messier didn't know that.  Things could have been way different.

Well, with "He Who Shouldn't Be Named", it was more about marketing/money than anything else.
