hammertime
This needs to stop. The first domino has to fall. JB is neutered. Green has lost the room. The locker room is divided. You can't put the Sedin's face on this and sell it. The team is in limbo until Jimbo is fired. Rightfully or wrongfully he's gotta go. The easiest thing to do would be to put Ryan Johnson at the helm. He is familiar with everyone very well liked around the org and more importantly the entire league. The transition would be silky smooth. I think the team knowing the type of guy Ryan is would really respond positively to Ryan getting the opportunity. The next thing is to hire an experienced Prez someone with vision who brings culture. Mark Hunter would get my vote. He might even snap Bo out of his funk. Since this season is already a write off. Brock to Calgary for Lucic + Richardson + 1st 2022 + 2nd 2022 + 2nd 2023 Miller to Carolina for Nino Nederiter+ Alexi Heimosalmi+ Ville Koivunen, 1st 2023. We get Nino's cap off the books next year Lucic the following. Grab 2 second's from 2021, an additional 1st and 2nd in each of each of the next 2 drafts. Only giving up assets that were otherwise gonna walk away for free when their contracts expire. Nothing very original here. But the longer they do nothing the more damage they are doing. PhillipBlunt
So replace one first time NHL GM with another? What does that solve?

Rubik
@PhillipBlunt I mean, being a first time NHL GM doesn't mean you can't succeed. Dave Poile has been working as a GM like what, 40 years now? Zero cups. Doug Wilson for 18 years? Zero cups. So that's not a very valid argument. Sometimes you just need the right guy and everything clicks, you don't always need that much experience. I hear you, but after giving Benning the reins for almost 8 years, I think the team would benefit from hiring a more established GM who's had experience in the league in the role at this point. That being said, every GM and coach have to start their career somewhere.

How many experienced NHL GM's are clamoring to work for Aqua?

Hearing Roberto may be replacing Frankie due to the latter's inability to ice a contending team. Who knows though. The tire fire that has been going on behind the scenes seems to be getting exposed a bit more now.

I keep thinking back to how Linden admitted he picked Benning, it wasn't an exhaustive process. Doesn't mean we can't have one, Linden just didn't do it that way.

Pretty hard to get permission to talk to other teams execs mid season I would think.

It could be interim but I think very highly of Johnson and many others do as well. You want some used up old hack? Jim Rutheford, Jeff Gorton, Jason Botterill, Chiarelli. Who is there that the Canucks can actually get permission to talk to right now??? I'd rather give Johnson a shot than anyone I'm aware of that's available with NHL experience. So hey....... Joe Sakic would you mind if we interviewed your assistant GM's for a position with our ORG Joe..... Joe........... You there Joe??????
