Popular Post D.B Cooper
Yup. Just what the title says. What a year this guy is having. 36 years old and on pace for one of his best seasons ever. After his hat trick last night he is up to 18 goals and 36 points in 21 games and on pace for what…. 70 goals? He plays like a beast and just can’t stop scoring goals. Also, gotta love how he still celebrates every goal like it’s his first. He just loves lighting the lamp and looks to be well on his way to being the best ever at it. 146 goals to get to Gretzky. Who thinks he makes it? 3 2

JM_
I'm enjoying this far more than watching Wayne at the time, I hated that Edmonton team back in the day. 1

King Heffy
Rooting hard for him to catch Gretzky. His durability and consistency is ridiculous, and he brings so much personality to the sport. My favourite active non-Canuck and the GOAT goalscorer already for my money. 1
Coconuts
He's played a couple more games, but he's right there with McDavid leading the league during one of McDavid's best starts ever At 36 Dude is legendary 1
Coconuts
I think he makes it if he stays healthy, he could hit 50 this year and that'd knock down what he needs the rest of the way

Devron
Love OVI. I traded for him last year in one of pools just so I follow him on his quest for most goals. Bet a lot of people thought he’d be on decline by now. Some thought he was the last couple years

wai_lai416
if Ovie finish short of gretzky it's gonna be unlucky due to the stupid lockout and covid shortened season he loses almost 2 full season worth of games.

So I’ll reiterate for you. I never said it was ov’s fault Gretzky lost games to injury. You implied if OV falls short it’s due to his lost seasons, what I’m saying is he’s lucky Gretzky fell short a few seasons otherwise he would’ve had 1000 goals. Your probably don’t remember this, but Gary Suter destroyed him into the boards causing him to miss most of the entire year due to his injury. During his prime! im just making a point that had Gretzky not gone through that back injury and shorten seasons, OV would never even come close to him. hope that all made sense, if not I’ll try again

Ovechkin avg 0.61. Gretzky still wouldn't score 1000 goal if he didn't have his injury and shortened season. He missed like 40 games or something from that injury and 2 shortened season? Let's add 100 game to his career.. he still wouldn't even be close to 1000. At 32 years old I wouldn't call Gretzky in his prime either. He hasn't even hit the 40 goal mark since 30.. so even if he didn't miss any games that season he still wouldn't have hit 40 so add maybe another 20 goals to his total. Gretzky in today's nhl prolly still produce like a mcdavid but he wouldn't even score as much as he did back in the 80s.. when goalies in the low 3.0 goals against is considered great. Ovechkin meanwhile would have feasted just taking slapshot from his office against those goalies.
Coconuts
He's one of the greatest goal scorers ever, but while he's also known for his physicality I think how large a part of his game it is can often be overlooked. 2
