I was thinking Pearson straight across for him and a pick for a sweetener.

But again you just can’t ignore this guys character issues. He’s been hated by his own teammates everywhere he’s gone. If he hasn’t changed now he’s not going to.

I can actually see him just laying low and playing the game this time. Why? He needs the &^@#ing money. He'll only be 33 at the end of his deal and I don't doubt he wants another contract.  That said just like how he lost all his money,,,it's a gamble....

But Pearson + pick or Dickenson + pick...tempting. I doubt they trade Bo's guy although I would.

He needed the money in San Jose too.  Far more likely he's a problem here like he has been literally everywhere else he's gone.

Yeah he's legit on FO, at 51.4% so far this season! Right shot, good size but doesn't really fight though.

We need a right shot C, thiss should be a no brainer claim then...can waive Chiasson(my preference) but would not be shocked if we waive Lammikko if we need to clear a roster spot.

As for fighting, we don't do that and the league frowns upon it now...I am on a nostalgia run about fighting right now after watching that Netflix documentary about the UHL and the 17 yr old kid who got to run the team, man I wish I lived in that town when they were playing....looks like a great time!

Can Benning even make any moves right now?

I’m not sure he can.

At 50% retained. Im in. His character is garbage but I would make it clear he is gone on the first incident. After that he would know his career is over. At 50%, I think it is worth the risk. More depth with Pearson moving down. I would do the trade for future considerations or if we need cap space, someone that clears that space for us that is not that valuable.

FA hasn't made big management moves without a replacement selected already.  Here's hoping he's doing exactly that right now.

Is this why Montreal is clambering for a Bergevin replacement?

Love the player, not a fan of the person.

He brings a pedigree this team desperately needs, but not at the cost of the character issues.

At 50% retained it's hard not to take a look, I just don't see it as the right fit considering the current state of the franchise.

Yeah, Shaw seems like an obvious claim.

He’s nothing special. Kind of a tweener AHL/NHL guy with limited talent/upside. And his stats aren’t anything to write home about. Just a veteran 4th line/depth grinder C/W. And a good ol’ Canadian boy from Glace Bay, Cape Breton. He works hard, plays a good defensive game, blocks shots, has good size, can PK, win faceoffs, and has character and leadership ability (he wore the “C” last year in the AHL).

Beggers can’t be choosers. Shaw isn’t a guy who moves the needle for most teams, but the Canucks definitely aren’t most teams.

Main thing is he’s a RH faceoff option who can win >50% of his draws.

And he can be trusted to lineup for 5v5 D-zone and PK faceoffs.

I’d swap him in as 4RW (with Chiasson taken out) and put him out to start PK’s (so he can take faceoffs against LH guys).
