Gurn
With the Canucks ability to retain money on up to 3 contracts; I don't think getting closer to the deadline is really that important towards making a deal. clearing $2,750,000 to make room for Bo for the remainder of this season is not that hard for a team to do. Schenn, Kuzmenko, and Burroughs are low salary enough to not be an issue.

Are we gonna have to give up guys for nothing or pay to trade out cap? Will teams even be willing to take those players since JR said nobody wants the guys we want to move? How will we address the defense after? Is our plan to be a watered down Leafs having to rely on minimum contracts to fill role spots?

If he's gonna talk the talk he better walk the walk and he hasn't. Feels like he could be approaching prima donna levels with attitude. 1 1

The plan is quite evident, and has been since Aquilini bought the club. Use futures in hopes to win now. We have a core five, and management (IMHAO) has been directed by our owner to build around that core. So Bo will be extended, just like Miller was. We aren't in a playoff spot now and next year we're gonna be forced to ice a worse roster. Good chance we won't be winning anything anytime soon. 1 1

It's a fair point, we should absolutely be retaining 50% on Horvat to increase the number of teams we could potentially trade with. He's a pending UFA, we'd be stupid not to take advantage of our ability to retain to both facilitate a move and increase a potential return. We could absolutely pull the trigger sooner than later, and might. The schedule this month and next isn't favourable for us. 1

From the site: literally said at the bottom Update in 2020 MOU: No-Trades & No-Moves travel with the Player when traded or waived. This means that if a player is traded before the clause goes into effect, the clause will no longer be removed with the new team. If players have already lost their clause due to being traded prior to it starting, they will not be re-instated. Slegr
I used to think JT Miller was the more natural goal scorer between Horvat and Miller, but Horvat will score more goals this season that Miller has ever scored in a season. Perhaps we *should* be keeping Horvat over Miller. 1
fantastico
Trading Horvat and keeping Miller will look very bad for the Canucks. This will be Cam Neely all over again.

I hope this team can find a way to keep Bo but if it does come down to trading him I would hope it could be more like the Trevor Linden deal than the Neely deal. As painful as it was at the time, the Linden trade ended up being one of the best deals ever made by this team and set them up for a long time.

I don’t think big Trev was to become a UFA at season’s end when we traded him though, was he? This is going to be a deal for a rental player, which doesn’t fetch as much as we’d like.
