i could care less about the suspension. He should have been ejected from the game for that play.

Because of the perpetual bias exhibited by officiating crews invited to appear in the NHL’s BOG President’s home building (win/loss record on home-ice vs away suggests that there could be something fishy)…that little t&$d was on the ice for the game winning-goal scored against the Canucks, too!

That whole night Marchand felt entirely ‘enabled’ to tear around the ice up to dirty-tricks that went unpenalized.

That slew-foot was the 1st, but not the last, infraction of his that those zebras failed to call. Entertainment value taking precedence over the game’s rules & NHLOA integrity at  the Gardens, is generally par for the course there.

^VanCity & Canucks Nation knows this too well & better than most. We are still waiting for league restitution after the 2011 SCup Final debacle that played-out there during games, 3, 4 & 6.

Where is the media pointing out how many violations committed by this guy that were ignored by the refs. If I was the Canucks I would be tempted to walk out of the arena when they made that first call against the Canucks in the 3rd period.

Yup. I have previously pointed-out that next to Mark Messier & Duncan Keith, Marchand is clearly one of the most enabled O-6 players in the league, giving the BOG President’s team the violence, drama & freakin’ entertainment value that the ‘Rat’s’ team cannot seem to achieve by any other more legitimate means.

And when the teams meet again, and this deplorable turd of a human being does the same crap again, will a Canucks player lay him out and exact revenge? Or is Green's influence on how the team answers the bell still strong enough that they'll turn tail?

have you seen anyone respond to garland or hoglander beatings?

The lowest paid Canuck.  And not a defenseman.

I'll go check CapF, yup. Lammikko or Chiasson @ $750,000 / 82 x 5 = $45,731.70.

I like Lammikko more, so let's start a GoFundMe for Chiasson - Rat Slayer!

Might do better than the 50/50.

Wonder what ref would have the balls to take half the money and not call the penalty, letting the DOPS decide if it was good for the game, or...

Chiasson can go into the ROH if he Bertuzzi's Marchand and ensures he is physically incapable of ever pulling this garbage again.

Should of been called in game instead NHL has to clean up their act post game such a bs mis call.

This does not help the Canucks’ franchise or make restitution for an  officiating mind-set that cost VAN a game, when that emboldened/enabled player continued to take liberties, as softer calls were made against his visiting-team opponents.

This is what Gardens hockey has been all about for decades folks! Reffing it old-school! They wanted the Canucks to retaliate & be more undisciplined - so there was MORE  violence & drama for the fans to be entertained by & for those pocketed-refs to misinterpret for the home team’s benefit. The ONLY chance the Canucks had, was to play it cool & hope the officials could/would do their jobs with an ounce of integrity.

Being shamed into responding later & in a way that’s unhelpful to the maligned team, will only invite more anti-progressive talk amongst the players. That’s what the Bruins organization & its’ big-wig owner really wants! Vigilantism works - but only for the team being enabled, also. Don’t think for a minute,  VanCity has power-broking capabilities or reps on the DPS. Ask Torres, Hansen, Edler & others. (Bertuzzi, Rome)

The IIHF disapproves of retaliatory violence. Junior leagues don’t approve & have taken a very hard line against it.  The game has morphed enough so that the NHLPA no longer approves of NHL players being expected to mete-out vigilante justice on fellow union-bros, as enforcers. Other world leagues have healthier systems, because they rely upon effective, competent & more highly-vetted officiating.

Unfortunately, power-mongerers within the NHL are still far too meddlesome. Until there are term limits to their league positions as well, we will continue to experience these more obvious inequities over fairness.

Did anyone else notice on two separate occasions last night, a Nuck player had Marchand lined up for a hit, and he intentionally fell to avoid the hit. The second time the Nuck player tripped over him and it was actually quite dangerous.

What frustrates me most about this rat is not his skilled play, and not his dirty play, it's how he deliberately and cowardly avoids any attempts from players to play him hard. He is by far the biggest coward to ever play the game.

Marchand is good at a few things, and one of them is avoiding fights, hits, or really any kind of punishment. He excels at slinking away.

Great Player.

PoS human being.

Refs never call games in Boston Gardens anywhere near evenly.

It's because they are afraid they'll be lynched and strung up outside the Gardens.

Or they're Kelly Sutherland and in the pocket of certain high NHL officials.

I do wish Miller had done something, with that view of the play. I don't know if Green has an standing order about non- retaliation but it sure seems like it.

Yeah.  Either a standing order or his own philosophy.

Can't figure out how something can be a 3 game suspension but no call by either ref ?

What a wuss that Crosby guy is.  Lets the rat punch his 'tender in the head and just gives him a caring hug.  A real leader would have crosschecked that rat in the neck for attacking his 'tender.  Then his 'tender wouldn't have gotten the subsequent spear.

Oh, and the appropriate punishment should be

  Hide contents

that he should be suspended and forced to lick the anus of 100 different horses (minimum one per day), to be completed by the end of the regular season.

:bigblush:

Knowing the league, though - they'll just fluff this off with a fine.

Just tell him one of the horses is Ryan Callahan flavour.

Still hasn't learned.  Give him the rest of the season off and tell him the next time he disgraces the sport, it will be a lifetime ban.  Enough is enough.

happy thoughts relived :

You know what is more embarrassing than Marchand’s actions there?
The lack of response by the Penguins.
If someone punched your goalie in the side of the head, let alone when he is down……

gloves off and swinging.
No hesitation no questions asked.

Then he sticks the guy in the face and they still do nothing?

THAT is a big bunch of losers.

Im gonna put 500$ on the Penguins to be out in the first round this year.
Hahaha
