Canucks are depressing to watch right now, so I'm counting down the days to puck drop for the WJHC.

Canada looks stacked this year...

Highlighted by the 3 likely 1st OA picks:

1st OA in 2021:  Owen Power

1st OA in 2022?: Shane Wright

1st OA in 2023?: Connor Bedard

Other big names:  Perfetti, Guhle, Lambos, Guenther, McTavish, Johnson, Stankoven, Lapierre, Cossa, etc

Here's the selection camp roster:  https://www.tsn.ca/hockey-canada-s-selection-camp-roster-1.1728820

Notably missing though... Brandt Clarke?  https://thehockeynews.com/news/brandt-clarke-not-expected-to-be-named-to-canadas-world-junior-team

Anyways, looking forward to it!

I don’t get why Connor Bedard gets an invite, even though he’s having an underwhelming year. While Matthew Savioe is having an outstanding year leading the Dub as a rookie. Doesn’t even get an invite.

Unlikely to make the team, but good for his development to experience the selection camp at least.

Do you think he's worth the hype? Most players on that trajectory only tend to go up and up.

Not only the McDavid type of players but even guys who are a step below like Lafreniere.

Not saying its doomsday for him but to have an underwhelming year in junior might indicate that he's not all that great after all (?).

Yeah, you're right in the sense that most players that project to be franchise altering forwards usually don't see a dip to under PPG in the juniors.  The season is still young though, so who knows... maybe he goes on a 2.00 PPG pace from game 30 onwards...

Right now, he doesn't look like the second coming of Connor though.  Then again, right now, Michkov doesn't look like the second coming of Ovechkin either.
