That's a really bad example. In the movies, they typically create drama for the big screen which is typically not what happens in reality.

You might not like the idea of a committee when outside looking in, but perhaps they have a system in place already that works for the time being? These are already people who have been working together remember.

I guess I just don't see the point in expecting the worst before it even starts? The negative Nancys of the world are the people I tend to try and avoid having in my life. lol

It was a bad example, I admit. I stopped going to cinemas long before covid because of the Hollywood spin.

However, the point still exists about boundaries in what each is responsible for.

The bolded I agree with and disagree with as we are both on CDC.

All I'm realistically expecting in the near term, is for BB to firstly establish what assets he has in hand and can depend on for the future and try to unravel some bad habits and re-establish some effective play & confidence in the team and hopefully a bit more stable and winning ways.

However, I suspect the real changes will follow around trade deadline and in the offseason/or when we get a new GM and fully expect a few players to be traded and unfortunately for wrong or right, I think Horvat will be at the top of that list - if the team is truly intent on establishing a new identity.

No matter, the changes are welcomed and at least we now have something to look forward to and some HOPE for the future, which we haven't had for many years and that makes a big difference with the future looking a bit brighter than yesterday.

Riddle me this.

What does a President do?

What does a GM do?

What does a coach do?

For example; I will use a movie. In Moneyball when the GM tells the coach to play a certain player at first, what does the coach say? Get lost. This causes the BM to then force his hand by trading the favored player away.

Linden would not be involved with trading any players as he would be meddling in the GM's business.

the President sets the direction of the club, deals with owners/league and hires the GM

GM- hires/fires the coach/ staff (Brackett...) ,signings/trades, player movement, drafts

Coach- sets the style of play/ systems, set the line up, motivates the team, operates the line blender

So, Linden would not be involved in trades, but he would be involved with setting/changing the direction of the club

Linden did state that it would be unfair to rebuild while the Sedins were still playing, I disagree with this, but it is within his rights and duties as President.

As I understand things, Linden decided that it was time for a rebuild, but the owners and GM went against that decision.

Fine for the owner, but it is meddling, and the GM was showing insubordination to his superior, the President

Also, none of this happens in a vacuum, the GM/Coach/Pres  are in consultation, but it is the job of the coach and GM to follow the Pres.

I was watching Don Taylor this AM talking to Friedman. Elliot said the problem in Vancouver was Benning and Wiesbrod isolating themselves from others.

Brackett was one example (from me, not EF) and another could be Linden

What I expect and hope for are two totally different things.

What do I hope for?   A cup.
What do I expect?   Another 8 years of garbage.

Oh come on, don't be so negative... it might be only another 5 years of garbage.... and then 3 years of gomi.

Hoping we hire Eric Tulsky as GM and he brings his brilliant analytic mind to help fix the glaring holes on our team.

Probably wouldn't go over well in this market, sadly.

Tulsky + veteran POHO doesn't sound like a bad idea. But I think the owner in Carolina has him penciled in as their next GM there so it's unlikely.

I hope to see a team with a clearly defined identity.  The 2011 Canucks were easy to understand. Outscore their problems.

This group needs to focus on offense and play a style that let's the offense shine.  I think Vancouver needs to be that type of team.

I think Boudreau will be the beginning of this and I look forward to some positive developments - like scoring and winning some games!

WINS WINS WINS.  I don't care about much else.

In the 50 years of this franchise, among the league we are 30th in terms of winning percentage .Ahead of Phoenix and Seattle.

10 years ago we were 25th.  But close to the middle of the pack.

This is ridiculous.  I want wins.  No more being a bottom feeder.   I would love for us as fans to look at the schedule and say on any given game night, we could win that match up.
Not looking at the schedule and going, whelp if we 6 points on a 6 game road trip we are doing awesome.  It would be nice saying we have a shot to take 4 or 5 wins out of six on a road trip.

So tired of being a speed bump for every other team in this league.

First I want a jersey change perhaps back to black, to give us a more intimating look and change our culture. Enough of the weak blue.

Blue (ocean) Green (rain forest) and white (snow covered mountains) represent the colours of our city’s landscape.

Black also represent the cityscape.  Especially since most games are played at night.

Source? Because yes there is research done into this, I have just never seen blue to be an issue in any of those studies. In my schooling, though I'm by no means a specialist, we did dabble in sports psychology. Blue jerseys historically have a high win rate, ranking in the top 3 by the majority of studies. The only color that our research feels confident enough to hang a hat on is red being a productive color to cultivate wins.

Studies show i read somewhere when red and blue face off red wins most of the time. Black jerseys has a aggressive effect/impression, therefore teams with black jerseys are penalized more by refs. This research has been done across various team sports.

I have heard about the black jersey thing as well. I always felt it was interesting that we shifted from a red, to a black jersey, but in the end shifted back to blue. Canucks have historically always seemed to be out of favour with the refs, no need to temp fate further.
