People really need to start asking themselves what they're going to think about having Horvat at $7MM+ per year for his age 28-35 seasons.

Yes.   And also understand he's only owed his one year at 7 plus ... and can sign a deal for 1 million at one year if he wants to as well.    The team will negotiate a fair deal for what he's done and what they feel he's worth long term. The qualifying offer is only for one year that's it.   So sign him at 5.5-6 x 8.   Or trade him.   And front load the deal for his qualifying offer.

That’s not how qualifying offers work since the CBA extension signed last summer.  For contracts signed after July 10,2020 they’re now 120% of the players previous AAV.  Front loading or rear loading the contract no longer has any bearing on the eventual qualifying offer

We only owe him one year at that price.   So create a deal for one year at that price and the rest where he should be.   Not tough to do.   OR just take him to arbitration.   All this was well discussed when we signed him, articles created too by the media showing how the team could handle Brock if he hadn't earned his qualifying offer.     An arbitrator's decision would kill his qualifying offer.   My bet is if he's greedy the team will sign him for one year at that price, and he will be traded.    Won't be at all surprised if that's the case given how ridiculous his agent was last time.   JB had all the cap to sign long term, but they were so far off started spending what could have been Brocks money elsewhere and the CDC panicked lol.

What has he really done the past 2.5 years that justifies signing him long term at his qualifying offer?   Diddly squat.   Although he was a lot better last year, and under Bruce he's done well enough.   Take away the injuries and covid he looks to be good for 30/30 goals a year ... Pretty easy to find two guys at 3.75 who can score 15 each lol.    That's not good value at over 7, it's ok value i guess for a UFA ... Patches top ten in goal scoring since he came into the league, size and intangibles.   Conner in WNP might be the best we could hope for from Brock.    I'm not sold on a legacy deal that makes him rich.   Personally feel a modest raise and that's it.   6.5 x 8 or something like that unless he blows the doors off the rest of the season.    Look at Garland.   That's a value contract.
