Watched the Stan Smyl interview with the panel in the 1st. intermission of the Canucks game on Sportsnet last evening.  Although not the most gifted speaker, his comments were sincere and revealed what a good grasp he has of the team and the current situation.  Also revealed the passion he has for this team and his vision on how to manage the transition into different management and coaching.  His comments to the effect that the players have to step up and show what they have got was interesting and suggested that would determine who stays and who doesn't.  He needs to be around this team and be listened to.

Thanks Stan - you're a gem.

Some of the Steamer's answers last night though...  ...I chalk it up to a noisy rink.  There were a couple of questions where he either answered something completely different than what was asked, or he backtracked to answer an earlier question.

I'm actually good with this, I'm glad that they are not making him permanent GM, I think he's getting up there a little too old for full time GM.

I like the idea of him Mentoring someone on GM, kind of like a God Father, hopefully without the horses head.... ;)

I doubt Smyl new this was coming.

Listening to Smyl speak though, he's not right for interviews, and I imagine his lack of experience as a president just won't cut it. They hired the right person IMO.  Next, get a GM and then they're set.

I love this.  Benning and Green out - Rutherford and Boudreau in.  Looks like a big improvement to me.
