Iain Hackintyre providing his unsolicited opinion on the matter: More firings by Canucks undermine an unexpectedly upbeat week (sportsnet.ca)

Decided some time back to never again listen to that miserabley morose git's opinion.

He's a minority of one in Vancouver who hasn't been upbeat about recent changes.

But only one of a majority of hacks earning blood coin outta Canuck's woe.

Rutherford should ban the bugger's further interview privileges.

This could be as simple. You have so many positions that we are willing to pay for. The new guy has his people so someone needs to make room for them. I doubt Aqualini's gave them a list of people that they must keep.

What they asked for was a winner.

I'm starting to think its more about alignment and getting rid of old loyalties. E.g. it didn't help matters having our scouting director loyal to Linden after Trev got canned. That and some possible performance issues that only internal folks would know about.

That interview with Stan and Fransesco hasn't aged well... I seem to recall Stan was just talking about Chris Gear and how great the interim team was and how excited they were to get started.

Yes. We have the Smyl group of people who have no say in anything and have Aqualini going right over their heads. Maybe Smyl will resign. Then we have a true dumpster fire

Heading in a new direction so it makes sense that these types of changes are made.

It's FA making these moves. Rutherford arrives Sunday I believe.

Tulsky for GM + expanding the analytics part of the organization would be very welcomed.

No way is that Aqua. That fell under Rutherford’s jurisdiction as soon as he was hired and from what we have heard he is very protective of his jurisdiction. But what is puzzling is how Rutherford made the determinations that these two should be fired without setting foot here, Were there some serious black marks against them that made it obvious they should be fired? It just seems harsh and without due diligence at this point.

Getting moved, fired or positioned differently within the team when new management takes over doesnt mean you suck at what you do. We need a fresh start, new set of eyes on things and since we’ve been at the bottom of the league for 8 years now, right against the cap the whole time, no-one has a secure job in the org.

Anybody wanna come back on and claim Frankie's a tightwad?

What has he laid out in severance etc?

We are going All In.

It doesn't mean sell all the picks and prospects.

We have to work with what we've got and what we can add.

It means brass tacks, balls to the wall, kick out the jambs, etc.

Let's get in; and let's make some noise!

I kind of feel bad for them especially near the Christmas season losing their jobs but I think they should have no problem finding a new job soon.

The lawyer would be unlikely to find a hockey job since they are few in number and he will be only licensed for BC law. He could readily get another job as a lawyer but it must be a very disappointing forced change. For the cap person there are few jobs and they all require a move out of province - which is a fairly big deal if you have a family. The impact of these firings on the individuals and their families should not be callously minimized, even if they are in the best interests of the team.
