DeNiro
Dropping down the list. 10 years ago they were consistently just outside the original 6 in value.
Googlie
I'm surprised that Edmonton has passed us - historically we were always 3rd in Canada behind Toronto and Montreal. And hard to see what has changed in Seattle to increase the value from the $650 million the owners paid for the expansion franchise

Make that 2 best players. Alot of it is based on revenue coming in as well, the team is making alot of money right now.
-AJ-
Not sure we were ever just outside of the Original Six, but I do recall during our 2011 heyday, we were pretty close to that level. Something like 8th or 9th if I recall.

It looks like a classic hockey arena.

grandmaster
The Coyotes need to be sold and relocated. They have been the biggest clown franchise in this league since 1996.

The 26 year Rogers Arena is already looking dated and in need of an upgrade Rogers arena isn't that bad. Decent acoustics and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The jumbo tron and perimeter screens and stanchion lights are all pretty modern. Canucks went through a big renovation to their locker room about 10 years ago and it was state of the art at the time. It's got lots of good years left in her
Ghostsof1915
What's more alarming is the league as a whole, lost money in operating income.
Boudrias
When they value the franchises they likely consider revenue, physical plant and potential value if put on the market. How is the NHL viewed as a player in the NA sports market? The deal that Bettman got for USA broadcast rights suggest the NHL is on a upswing. That likely benefits American franchises more but the Canadian clubs benefit as well. I think the Canucks are in good shape considering the fallout from Covid. DrJockitch
It is strange how much for many franchises is related to in ice product. When we had the Sedins and we’re doing well we were valued around 6th if I remember correctly. Now after 8 years of Benning, middle of the pack. Obviously some teams like Leafs, Habs, NYR are not so much based on how the team is doing. The Oilers as said above likely has more to do with the new building, McDavid and guaranteed first overall when have a losing season. The 26 year Rogers Arena is already looking dated and in need of an upgrade I remember when GM Place was considered one of the best in the league. But the location and the concrete probably isn't worn out. It will get renovated. I bet we play in there for 20 more years+. It wasn't like Rexall Place which wasn't even downtown and sucked. The Pacific Coliseum was built in 1968. The Canucks moved out after it was 27 years old. GM Place/Rogers is 24 years old now. So who knows. Maybe 20+ years is an over estimation Edited December 13, 2021 by MaxVerstappen33
