Goodness people need to learn some hockey terminology.

Clancey was a PRO scout in charge of scouting PRO players already in the league for potential transactions.

Not an AMATEUR scout in charge of the prospects/draft.

Chill.

To clarify, this includes all lesser pro-leagues.............AHL, KHL, SHL, etc...........

As much as I hated how Benning operated, is how much I'm liking Rutherford.

For funsies, mind if I ask you why? You were definitely one of the more outspoken anti Benning people here, so I'd like to know the things so far Rutherford has done that has you so positive. I'm also very pumped on him so far, but I'm a homer and generally like most things the Canucks do so my opinion doesn't mean much.

JR is interim GM.

Essential Meaning of interim

: a period of time between events

I.E. first event = JR gets hired;  second event = GM gets hired (interim = ended)

The ‘interim’ GM hiring the permanent AGM who will work with the permanent GM who’s not even hired yet makes absolutely no freaking sense. How people agree with this rationale is beyond me.

he's assembling a team of people he trusts who will all ultimately answer to him. the hierarchy is determined by experience and responsibioities. rutherford obviously thinks very highly of clancey but for whatever reason doesn't think he's the right fit to be the top dog (yet), so he'll find a top dog that's happy to work with him. what's so hard to comprehend about it? he simply won't hire a gm who has a problem with clancey (hint: none of them will).

You don’t seem to agree with anything the team does so seems like business as usual.

For the record, I’m on board with the Rutherford hire.

I just thought this forum (and you) had collectively learned from the Benning experience not to blindly accept everything.

But the cult-like tendencies this forum was literally famous for 3 years back are clearly coming back.

He's really a scout that is looking to transition into the GM. He's responsible for the horrific draft list for the last 6 years.

Not sure, about your take on him but that draft list, is looking pathetic - very, Gillis like.

Hopefully, the team assembled by JR, is more well rounded.

Gunner buddy

Where I worked, the assistant managers always interview the new candidates for their boss, and had input on who they hired.

I guess it matters whether you have hired the right assistant managers
