With their new (don’t test unless showing symptoms) procedures the NFL is going to even have fewer guys in Covid protocol, and will have all their games played.  The NHL, after Christmas, should do the same.  Rutherford said as much in his press release.  I think Yzerman said it earlier too.  Omicron is presenting as very mild, or no symptoms at all in the vast majority of vaccinated persons, especially in the players.

Vaccinated asymptomatic carriers? Leave these descions up to the scientists. People are saying really cavalier comments with no knowledge.

Stop testing those people who have mild to no symptoms.  This is over.  OVER!

No. It's not over. You have asymptomatic vaccinated carriers. Trying to discuss this reasonably doesn't seem to be an option.  I'm out.

I read an article today about pandemic fatigue.  They said that as the pandemic wears on further, people rationalize decisions far less.  Doctors stated that if there are more restrictions imposed, not only will people feel more reluctant and defiant to follow those new regulations, but also push back and stop following the current regulations which would be avoided by just keeping the status quo.  So really the only thing the government is accomplishing right now is making people to listen to the government less than ever.

Loui's return would've been interesting, would it be a warm welcome? I think so.

I wonder if Rutherford is going to do anything during this time off, or if he'll stand pat and let the D he has heal up a bit.   Maybe see some moves at the TDL?

Except Omicron is presenting with mild symptoms.  This is what happened with the Spanish flu pandemic.  The virus mutates to a dominant variant that presented with mild symptoms.  History repeats.

I think JR pushes the league to test only symptomatic players, just like he suggested should happen in his recent press release.  I’m thinking the league follows the NFL in the new year and does like JR recommends.  Test only the sick!  Stop testing healthy people.  IT IS OVER!

Ok, you're the one who refuses to discuss reason.  There are multiple sides.

Your side, where we should continue to be as careful as ever, stop the spread of Covid at all costs despite the ramifications to people's mental health and the economy.

A middle ground, where we learn to live with Covid as a more contagious flu.  We understand that people will be infected, but we try to keep it in moderation so as not to overwhelm the hospitals by following the guidelines that have until recently maintained the same for months.  We also realize that we have to help people's mental health and not gut the entire economy for a slightly worse version than the flu.  The unvaccinated have also made their choice and will deal with the ramifications themselves with no pity from anyone else.  This happens to be the one where I sit currently.

Then there's the final side.  The side where we should just remove all restrictions and go back to how we were living in 2019.  Honestly, I could see this happening in the next 6 months if Omicron is as weak a disease as it looks right now (South Africa reporting less hospitalizations than ever despite more cases than ever).  Of course, Omicron could be stronger than we think and we'll see for sure in the next several weeks, but if it is basically nature's booster shot, I'd be an advocate of this as well.

You can't have a completely closed mind.  For example, while I happen to have a different opinion than you, I understand why you have the opinion you have and you have valid reasons for it.  You just tend to put a stronger importance on some facts over others compared to me which has made you have this opinion versus mine.  You have to be open and not just shoot down everyone's different opinion as stupid.  Once you discuss with them and have hard facts that their idea is stupid (for example being antivax) then go ahead close your mind to that opinion because it is stupid, but just saying someone's idea is stupid because it is different than yours is...stupid.

I don't want to be one of "those" guys but there's an important difference between "postponed" and "cancelled".  Which one is it?  There's a real chance the whole NHL might be suspended for a while.  I want to see more hockey, especially since we're on a roll, but I also want people to be safe.  I suspect that there are going to be a lot more disruptions.  We need to do what it takes to stop this annoying disease, and then get back to hockey.  GCG!

The NHL won't cancel anything unless they are forced to. They will just postpone games into the olympic break (which I highly doubt they are going to now) and end of season.  To many TV contracts to risk cancelling games, they will do whatever in their power to postpone and still get 82 games in.

It makes zero sense to test and put asymptomatic vaccinated carriers in protocol.  They aren't sick.

Technically every human on earth is an asymptomatic carrier of something. Look at any infant vaccine that we have all received. Are they shutting down the league for polio ?  Many prob have it and don't know it but it's all good cause we all have the polio jab.

Stupid analogy aside, if your not sick you should play.

Let them all enjoy Christmas with their families at this point but they better be following the NFL in the new year.. this is a joke.
