Popular Post JM_
Halak for Kassian. EDM is desperate for real goaltending. We need to grit up our team. I get its risky to our playoff chances, but I don't think its EDM we'll be chasing for that last wildcard and Zack really fits the bill in terms of what we need more of in the top 9. We also shed that 10 game 1.25 mil bonus Halak is due. Its also pretty much cap neutral for us (Zacks salary is covered by Halak, and the player Zack replaces in the top 9) We'd need to graduate Mikey D to fill in until we could maybe find a cheaper veteran off waivers or a smaller trade. Halak agrees, since he may not get his bonus money here. Edited January 2, 2022 by JM_ 3 4 1 1
Alflives
Love to see Big Zack back. He can still get around the ice, and bop with the big boys. Halak and Chiasson for Big Zack + 2nd (2022)
Popular Post YEGCanuck
JM, Zack is not the player he once was, I know because living in E-town I catch most of the Oil games. He has had too many hits to the head and is simply not as effective as years past. Also his contract is definitely an overpayment for what he has produced this season. IMO the Canucks have more use for a decent back-up goaltender than Zack who unfortunately has experienced a real drop off in on-ice performance. 3 1
qwijibo
Halak has a NMC. Why would he agree to waive it before achieving his $1.25m bonus? Edited January 2, 2022 by qwijibo

Think Demko is going to play every game left in the season? I wonder if he'd get more top 6 chances here.

Master Mind
Halak is not the answer to Edmonton's goaltending concerns. 1

You may see something different than me and I was wrong once before, but I just don't think Zack has anymore juice to play the game. I can't imagine he could perform with greater consitency than any healthy player in our top two lines. Cheers.

I wouldn't want to help the Oilers even if Halak was a good fit for them. But realistically if they want a goalie, they'll be looking for a long term solution. Halak isn't that.
Elias Pettersson
I'd rather we get Zack MacEwen back than Zack Kassian. MacEwen already beat him up in a fight, has a cheap contract and fits a role on the 4th line. Kassian doesn't fit our top 9 right now. I like our top 9 the way it is, just got to get Petey going again. Also, Kassian is at $3.2 million for another 2 years, so cap wise it doesn't fit either. 2
