Dumb hockey questions - Michael Jackson, Stan Smyl and Mario Lemieux - Vancouver Is Awesome

Canuck captain Stan Smyl probably thinking 'get me out of here' as he takes a ceremonial face off against Mario Lemiuex at the Pacific Coliseum as Michael Jackson drops the puck from above his head.

No one brought out the carpet for Michael? Can't imagine those moon walking shoes had enough tread for the ice.

I still wonder if that was really him? Or just a publicity stunt double? Regardless that was weird.

It was him. The Jackson's Victory tour was in town for 3 sold out shows at the dome. Which coincided with the Canucks hosting Pittsburgh on Nov 18, 1984. For the record the Canucks won 7-6.

Thanks. I remember seeing that picture, and always thought it was odd.

The person who attacked the victim on July 21, 2019, captured on live stream broadcast at Yuen Long station is a relatively well-known farmer in Yuen Long, but has never been apprehended by the police for questioning in relation to this incident, was never charged, and is still very much at large.

The person who was attacked and captured this live stream is now in the HK jail system, for "incitement" and "unlawful assembly" in relation to the 2020 June 4th Tiananmen Square protest memorial that was supposedly disallowed by the HK authorities due to the pandemic's gathering restrictions, and was last month sentenced to 6 months in jail.  Not sure if credit will ever be given for time already served when she was denied bail in February of 2021 (11 months ago), because she's still being held on bull$&!# presumed "n(m)sl" infractions for her involvement in pro-democracy primary elections held in the summer of 2020.  "Secession", they labelled her charge - except it was an effort towards exercising a political right that was provided for in the Basic Law (ie. allowing a "recall" style instrument to compel the CE to resign if there was enough opposition in LegCo).  Obviously, the ccp saw that as a threat and have since closed that loophole by changing the electoral system altogether.

My thoughts: there is no justice in HK any more, and the presumption of "rule of law" still happening there is misguided at best, and illusory in truth.  It's too bad that former Canadian Chief Justice, the Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin, is still offering the puppet government of HK a sense of "legitimacy" by continuing to serve as a stooge on their Court of Final Appeal, instead of resigning like one of her fellow jurists.  It really tarnishes her legacy here by supporting an authoritarian system that no longer seems to consider facts but rather appears to make judicial decisions due to political influences.
