nuckin_futz
The Man Who Cut Out His Own Appendix Russian explorer Leonid Rogozov was in the middle of Antarctica when he realized he had appendicitis and needed an appendectomy straight away. Being the only medic on sight and his appendix hours away from bursting and thus spreading a bacterial infection, he decided he would operate on himself. Rogozov instructed his team to sterilize his equipment and had them set up a mirror below his right hip. He injected local anaesthetic, and despite accidentally slicing his lower intestine, completed the surgery successfully and recovered within 2 weeks | 1961 Australian Former Prisoners Of War Enjoy A Cup Of Tea As They Catch Up On Current News, Following Their Release After The Japanese Surrender | Singapore, September 1945 ‘No One Is Born Racist’ Photograph By Todd Robertson. I remember catching big barramundi, hunting wild pigs with dogs and knives and generally having a bloody good time for 6 months. Once we put a big chunk of wild pigs meat on the hook on the end of a winch cable from our four-wheel drive, towed it out into the river and tried to catch a fresh water crocodile. Places that were pristine and untouched are now tourist destinations. I remember camping in the Airlie Beach public caravan park for 2 bucks a night, listening to the waves on the beach by our campfire. Now it's a marina for big ass boats and their billionaire owners.
