[Waivers] Riley Nash

Being waived by the defending champs and one of the deepest teams in the league is nothing to be ashamed of.  Heck, any of our top line guys would likely be 2nd line players or even 3rd line players on Tampa.

The thing is, Riley Nash is not scoring on one of the deepest teams in the league. If you want your team to have more of a scoring threat, acquiring Nash isn't going to help. Besides, I like what Lamikko does. He's younger and he has untapped offensive capabilities. That pass to Motte last game was excellent.

7 of his 10 games with TBL he had less than 12min TOI.  3 of those games were under 10min.  It's clear that TBL uses their top 3 lines a lot, so not being able to produce offensively on the 4th line is not that surprising.

Let's not pretend he's some offensive dynamo being buried in the deepest teams in the league. Every line on TB can score - he was never a player that could score. What I'm saying is that even in the most ideal circumstances, this guy is not a scorer.

So how does he help the Canucks that are trying to have more balance in their lineup? Lamikko does a good job and he's fast.

We don't really have a serviceable spare though.  Dickinson has struggled at center.

all Nash has to do is get the puck to Hughes and get off the ice.

0 points in 25 games is pretty anemic. I'd pass.

True, but prior to this year he's been alot more productive than most of our 4th liners.  A change of scenery may work for him and playing under Boudreau may help.

A 4th line right hand C is exactly what we are missing up front.  I'd take a flier on Nash and send Dowling to the AHL...

He got 46 points in 2017.  That's alot more points than any other of our 4th liners.

He can play right wing and take the draws for Lammikko when we need a right hand shot for draws.

On second thought.... why bother?? He's just like another Jayson Megna... doesn't really hurt the team but offers next to nothing...

I got excited over his size, position and right-handedness to.....  lol....

Faceoffs, size, PK ability.  Closer to Beagle, who was fine apart from his cap hit.

That's what all 4th liners get. Zero points sucks. Not the be all end all though. He's a -1 so he really plays low event hockey.

Ya... I saw too... one hit wonder.. and then back down to a typical 4th liner.... but again, if he can offer us some grit and faceoff wins and PK ability...  just claim him and bench Chiasson!

Conviniently left out the part where I said he was a league min guy which would be gold for them. But yes, you're right.

-1 is actually really impressive when you have zero points. That's only 1 goal against. I would put in a claim. I like lamikko but the increased shut down capabilities of Nash can't hurt.

Sutter isn't coming back.
