He's been doing that lately.

If his posting style was a martial art I would say Akido, it's known for  'when you push, I pull'

Instead of giving his honest opinion, which I believe is someone that isn't too concerned about the virus. He is pretending to be overly concerned and being facetious with his suggestions.

I’m just tired of all this. Either we put everything on Halt for a couple months and defeat this thing and get on with life. Or we make a mess of it and live this weird chaos for 10 years... I’m not naive enough to believe after we’ve been doing this for 2 years already that our method of tackling this thing is suddenly going to work. I’m tired of the divide, I’m tired of both sides thinking their opinions are more valid than the others. People preach unity but it’s only for if people are united in their own ideals. Even centrist approaches aren’t welcome... it’s become an us vs them world & it’s ugly.

At least sports offered an escape and some enjoyment. But now with not even leagues being on the same page with all 30+ teams(depending on which sport) it’s even getting frustrating.

I understand your frustration.

I have more than a few criticisms myself about how things are being handled.

That's a bit of an overreaction. Consider in the two years it's been here that Covid has infected 303,447,963 people with 5,496,209 dying from it. The 1918 Influenza infected 1/3 of the entire human population, and over 50,000,000 - 75,000,000 died from it.

Based on what?

Again, based on what?

The financial impacts of lockdowns has already been felt by thousands if not millions of people. Many have lost their livelihoods and some have chosen to opt out of life because of it. The impacts of these last couple of years, and all that's happened, will reverberate throughout the next century, at the very least.

That being said, I'm going to head back to hockeytown and keep this thread out of covidville.

Canned foods, electricity, cleanliness, science and global communications make that the numbers will be much less.

Covid and Influenza manifested themselves in two very different eras.

I'm disappointed, but by no means automatically assume the road trip is a write off.

Jeeze, can we just boot the people who are so negative that they automatically complain about defeats that haven't even happened yet. Could you imagine what JT would say if Hogs walked into the room and said "well since they cancelled the Ottawa game this road trip is pointless, why bother"

This is a new team, with new strength and better resilience. Have some faith. Let's try for .500

Have these guys not at least earned a little more support from fans??

I can understand canceling a few games for monetary reasons, but this is getting nuts. I think I read that Ottawa has only played one game since Dec 16th. How does the league expect teams to be able to keep sharp and compete?

Total BS...in the US, they are playing games.

I don't think the road trip is a write off, but we're essentially going in cold to play a cup contender on Tuesday, in their own building, and they are already warmed up and playing well.

It just creates a disadvantage to teams, coming in cold with too long off.

Move on nhl holy crap. Aqua seriously postponing because he cant afford to take a .0002% hit on his wealth. Instead going to make the players suffer by giving them a crazy condensed season to end the year? I'd love to hear a off the record opinion about this from miller lol

If anyone can afford to make pandemic life easier on a large amount of people, Its the super rich guys. But money is worth more to him than his players well being with all this new found expectation to continue this roll and get into the playoffs? Yikessss

While I stated that I was leaving covidville, I’m thinking that you might be missing the very different factor that these are very different viruses as well. The victims of the 1918 influenza were primarily young and healthy people. While Covid has taken those who are young and healthy as well, they haven’t been the primary targets.

Back to hockeytown.

How dare I make factual points about the literal NHL standings as they are today. Pointing out the caliber of the teams we're going to be playing isn't negative.

I even mentioned I'd be impressed if we got through the road trip at .500, forgive me if I don't have any pom-poms.

You say "negative", I'll say pragmatic.

Pom-poms are mandatory.

What I am tired of is being lied to.

Did you read the Canuck's statement on the postponement  that appears on their home page?

It says that the pandemic is at a critical level and that the Canucks in consultation with the NHL and Bonnie Henry all decided that it was best for every one to postpone the game.

That is a lie.

The BC government allows for 50% attendance.

The reason for the postponement was money. Not health.

Sick of being lied to.

The useless Vancouver media should uncover who made this decision.  League or ownership - and then let the fans know.

BS!

This is getting nuts. Teams are almost going to need another training camp and exhibition games before they are ready to play again.

Crazy to think that we now need to go to Florida, and open a hard trip, cold against one of the best teams in the league and then play Tampa 2 nights later and Carolina 2 nights after that.

Seems fair, doesn't it.

Players aren't happy about it!

They should also postpone that road trip too, but with Canucks luck it wont be postponed, only the easy games are postponed lol.

Am also getting sick of it too. They should play with no attendance. Whats the point of postponing the games, its not like covid will suddenly vanish in a couple of weeks. Its really vecoming stupid because Canucks cant even go on a run. Now watch a bunch of our players get covid and more postponement. At this rate we migjt not even play a full 82 game schedule.

You have to admit though that this play 2 games, rest for 2 weeks and play for 2 games again and rest again is not really beneficial for the players and the team. It will be hard to get back into a routine with huge disruptions like this. Either play in empty arena or maybe cancel the season because covid is not going anywhere.

Blessings in disguise. BB coming back but EP out. Hamonic still out.

Can use more practice with new coaching staff.

Tough road trip ahead. Need to get at least 500.

What up with Hamonic? He still hasnt healed yet?

Just a load of bull this is.  The League wants all Canadian teams at full capacity so to compensate the lower earning teams with revenue sharing. The canucks even at 50% capacity is still more than Buffalo draws.  Why is Buffalo still playing???
