Cheers Stawns...

I wish, we could get that though... a Kane/Torres type without the mental aspect...Loved Torres the short time he was here...

No argument here, that's how I played and how I coached......... sadly, that's just not the NHL anymore

They out hit Florida, out hit Carolina and were a little under even against Tampa.

So your metric for being soft is being on the wrong end of a big hit?

Hits is a flawed statistic.  Look into deeper and you'll see that the team that doles out more hits are usually the teams that are chasing the play and playing without the puck.

From a quantitative perspective, hits have very little to do with team toughness.  IMHO, team toughness is a qualitative/organizational identity thing that cannot be measured.  I'm sure geeks like Drance have tried.

Canucks have not played with a pack mentality since the days of Bieksa, Kesler, Burrows, O'Brien, Hordichuk, Rypien.  This is one of the many elements to the Canucks team that is lacking.  It's tough to play with that pack mentality with the players on the Canucks roster.

I agree, but that doesn't change the fact that the league isn't a physical league anymore.  Teams still play with a pack mentality, but it's about puck pursuit and forcing turnovers that way, as opposed with force.

While I whole heartedly agree that we need some sandpaper. Torres was a headhunter I don't want somebody running around out there trying to put guys in wheelchairs it's just a game. Would much rather a Willy Mitchel type.

Fair comment...

I just really liked Torres, while he was here... for once we weren't they once always looking over our shoulders...

But yes agree... Willy Mitchells hit in Toews will stand long in my memory...

Hamhuis hip checks were a thing of beauty as well...right up to him trying it on Lucic...

Anyway the point being, when these guys hit, players didn't forget it...

So you sell when the value's low?  Can you give me a hint which team wants to give up picks and prospects for a guy who currently is struggling/underperforming on a fair size contract?

You can cling to the hope that he is the guy, but he's not the guy.  Not to mention he is a greedy little bugger who missed training camp for money caused Hughes to miss training camp and has just continued his fall from grace that was his rookie year 4 years ago.  We don't need players like him that only care about themselves.

That's your take.  Only.  Opinions are like other things, everybody's got one.

I don't understand people's bitterness over someone negotiating a contract.   He "caused" Hughes to miss?  Please, tell me more.

Hughes couldn't sign until EP's deal was done to protect EP from getting an offer sheet.  He knew it and dragged it out till the last minute to get every cent he possible could.

Boudreau himself has said that EP's struggling with his confidence.  Considering how much of a problem Green was on and off the ice, it's a logical conclusion.

So what about Quinn Hughes. Green didn’t seem to ruin him. But I guess Green is just carefully selective in which player he wrecks.
