Sorry. Trade our players to the Edmonton Oil for their picks to help them win

To help them win? A divisional rival? &^@# no.

Why the hell would we help a divisional rival win when we've been struggling to win ourselves? No Thanks

That team was 16-5 not that long ago.

I’ve never seen a team implode like this.

Ah, you talking about Edmonton. Yeah, this sort of implosion is a special kind. Requires special players, which the Oilers have - two of them in fact.

Maybe that saying is true - defense wins you championships. In this case, defense could help win them some more games. What's all that offense for, if they can't defend to save their own lives. Edmonton seems to hold onto the philosophy that they can outscore their teams because they have Leon and McDavid. Doesn't work that way. Takes a team to shut, or game plan for those two. It's harder to score even with those two. Opposing teams aren't just going to roll over for Leon and McDavid to score on them.

Just like the Laffs, both teams didn't focus on the goaltending position; and unlike, the Canucks with Benning (under Clarkes' recomendation), had atleast been willing to invest draft capital, on goaltenders.  Even, Tampa & Fla had prioritize there goaltending position.

Perhaps, with Shaw the team can also focus on drafting, some defenceman's outside of Hughes - instead of overpaying for them in FA or trades.  Still hoping, that Jett Woo and other D drafted by JB, will make the NHL - just one or two, would make a big difference.

Can I also point out that there are a lot of red dots in the Pacific division. Even if we lose the game we are getting help there.

Playoffs! We are coming for you

Only .056 Points per game percentage separates 7 teams. Definitely getting some outside help these days in our difficult push for a spot.

I agree with that - but it must have been a pretty solid offer if management actually went to Halak and asked if he'd waive.    Halak cap hit isn't great for us, easy to achieve bonus.   If a teams that desperate...maybe it was a first rounder. Would you do that then?   Halak refused anyways so it's all moot.

Been saying since the start of the year both EDM and CAL won't sustain what they started like - now it's happening.   ANA too, without those loser points where would they be?   At this point second and third are up for grabs ... EDM should get one of those spots but not without a change.    CAL ... they are missing Gio... rumblings he could be a target, and if Markstrom goes down and when Tanev goes down i just think they aren't out of the woods either.   Who's been winning lately?   The Canucks.   Wouldn't bet against us anymore.   Covid seems to be striking again - like last season when we clawed our way back (which we did)...Difference is these guys aren't getting sick from it like last time.   And don't even know they have it in a lot of cases.    Canucks have a good coach with a system that is working.    Still think playoff are well within range, half a season left folks.

However, every player that has come in has flourished in their role for that game(s). Look at Hunt, he was playing well enough that he beat out Boroughs for a little bit. We shall see. Hopefully Ian Clark can inspire Spencer for a game or two.

Yeah getting help is necessary I know but it's definitely doable. Lots of people like to look at worst case scenarios and just conclude it's very unlikely. This approach is definitely helpful in real life, however our situation is a little different. The biggest difference is we're winning consistently. That's what you need to do in this situation. Take care of yourself and the rest will fall into place.

One important factor is all these teams are playing each other every night (or Avs, Knights, Blues, TB, Fla) so teams around us will continue to lose. Also with regards to games in hand those points are not in the bag as in they actually have to win the games to get those points. That becomes harder to do as the season progresses and pressure mounts. In addition, the teams that have struggled usually find their identity towards the season end and become spoilers. Look at Seattle just beating the Sharks. On top of all of this our whole division is imploding right in front of our eyes. If they can hang in there and be within striking distance down the stretch that's all any player can ask for. We'll lose games here and there but it's all about being resilient and putting 120% into every game. They are all winnable.

As a fan the start of the season sucked but it's been damn entertaining the last month and a half or so. Hopefully we can pull right back into this thing in the next month as GP evens out.
