Singer Meat Loaf has died at the age of 74

US singer Meat Loaf, whose hits included Bat Out of Hell, has died aged 74 with his wife by his side, a statement on his official Facebook page said today.


The statement said: 'Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side. Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours.


'His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including 'Fight Club', 'Focus', 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' and 'Wayne's World.'

Loved his music.


He had that howler at the 2011 AFL Grand final show.

His first reaction to the fans reaction was to be abusive however a few years later he owned it and apologised.

Big time respect, not many people admit when they are wrong.




His Music will live on making him immortal.

Was never a fan. I just couldn't get into the theatrics and dramatic songs. This really overweight guy with long hair, waiving his white hanky, but there is no denying the impact he had in the 70s and beyond with that album.  I last saw him on Trump's The Apprentice years back, and he seemed like a really nice, gentle giant of a guy. RIP
