I think it’s very likely in the next coming years we’re going to see more and more females managing clubs. I think it’s a great progressive step for the sport as a whole.

Hockey has come a long way from even 10 years ago. Mental health isn’t stigmatized anymore, players are taking better care of themselves and not just sucking up to ill-advised opinions of personal trainers who just shove a bunch of meds that completely destroy the player, and of course, the inclusivity regardless of gender or race.

Of all the sports, Hockey seems to be the last sport that’s changed with the times. I’m glad we are finally seeing much needed change in the way we go about this awesome and often times, misunderstood sport.

Mostly known for her work as a player agent.  She likely brings a good understanding of the CBA and will probably provide insights into contracts, player needs/wants, etc.

It's a good type of skillset to have on board.

I like this hiring a lot. Very stellar resume and very professional.

When people were going on about Jennifer Botterill just for the sake of hiring a woman.... this is the one of the women that I thought would actually have the qualifications to be a GM. It’s a great hire and she knows the business side.

I'm really proud of the Canucks for this hire. I don't know much about this woman, but it's awesome that she has very strong credentials.

Rutherford is doing a fantastic job so far.  Taking his time and finding quality candidates.  Nice to see a management actually build a management team. To watch it grow, filling every niche with competent personnel to oversee and help.  As opposed to the opposite, systematically stripping it down, like the last one.  With the capologist, then president, then amateur scouting director, all dismissed and not replaced.  Until all the was left was a two person dictatorship run in isolation by two of the most inept pro-scouting duo in Canucks history.

Funny how this kind of competency, and professionalism, and openness, is almost a shock to some fans, after years of neglect.

I'd argue that given the sheer number of NTC/NMC's he handed out that crippled the franchise for 5 years after he was gone

Probably, but he assembled a team that went to the finals.
Lets be honest, had they beat Bruins, which they should have, I doubt folks would have been as upset as they have.
With the imbalance in taxes between certain southern states and BC, I will not be surprised to see that happening again, if they feel they can take the top salary down a bit for clauses.
Just my opinion....

It is like fighting with 1arm tied up...

I was no fan of MG, but I liked the additions he made to Nonis core to get them to the finals.  I was never a fan of the NTC's though.

She was the first female player agent and she was somehow involved in the NHLPA. I think buddy said she also did some analytical thing prior. He knows a lot more about her and sold me on her a month ago.
Just knowing the going rates of players helps as well. She represented Lafreniere, paquette and roussell as well as a few others I believe. She was starting to really gain notoriety amongst French players.

So you're saying Lafreniere is coming to the Canucks?

Gotta wonder if Botterill is still in the mix in a hockey ops role.

From everything insiders like Friedman were saying it sounded like we already hired her.

She removed herself from the process for personal reasons.  She does have two very young children at home.
